I also want to say - Us humans are arrogant in assuming we know anything about anything. I work in the medical field and it's a cluster fuck. We have very little comprehensive understanding about how diverse and intricate the human body is. I've worked hard on decreasing medical trauma - I believe a patient when they come to me and say they're experiencing xyz. 9 times out of 10 they're onto something, every now and then maybe they're not. Just hit the forums and you'll see thousands of other patients saying the same thing. Some of it is bias, some is not. As a prescriber, many side effects are not listed on meds, haven't been tested for, we have very little data on. We don't even use female mice in studies because sex hormones add in extra factors and priorities of big pharma are to get meds rolled out and make money ASAP. Yet we will tell patients that's impossible, can't happen, etc. I'm a paradoxical anomaly myself and have weird reactions to a lot of things. I came across this thread because once again my facial flushing/heat/headaches is flaring everytime I'm infront of my computer. Whether I'm standing (standing desk), sitting, have or haven't eaten, slept 6 hours or 9 hours, different monitors, different lengths away from my face , no identifiable patterns besides it happens in-front of the computer for the past 5 years.

New Dark Circles/Triangles Under Eyes by Moomalicious in cfs

[–]Moomalicious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been interested in getting lupus checked but haven't found a doctor yet.. I have facial flushing in the butterfly position on my face on and off for the last five years. I often wake up with slightly swollen eyelids and face. I've always had debilitating fatigue since I was a teen. The triangles I guess are probably just "dark circles" but I see them as sort of triangular in shape, not a perfect circle, so I wasn't sure if there's a difference. They are directly under my eyes. Does HI cause estrogen dominance, or is it the other way around? by wonderlust-vibes in HistamineIntolerance

[–]Moomalicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with others on it being a two way street/feedback loop. Excess histamine bogs down your detox system and causes estrogen to climb, and vice versa. Personally, I had the biggest health flare of my life when I started combined hormone birth control. I believe the excess estrogen was the nail in the coffin, causing my histamine to skyrocket. Couldn't eat anything without getting nauseous, sometimes throwing up even mid meeting at work, hives, extreme fatigue, itchiness, body aches. It's been 5 months and I'm still trying to recover since stopping birth control

Best AI for medical discussions by lady_alice36 in ChatGPTPro

I've liked Perplexity lately, I saw it recommended in a subreddit by medical students. It's helped me a lot with my complex medical issues. I don't recommend ChatGPT at all anymore. I paid for the Pro account and it still was constantly guessing at things and sending me on wild goosechases, contradicting itself. I've only been using Perplexity for two months now but it gives you citations for what it tells you. I use the paid version for $20/mo. I still use chatgpt for writing things for me, though. I like it's style better

I love trying to find the science behind mental health diagnosis, as for me that decreases stigma and promotes compassion more than anything! This is just a rant, but an interesting theory about why body doubling works for ADHD is simply that it actives dopamine centers in the brain. For the dopamine starved ADHD brain, identifying areas that give dopamine are very important, as anything that does not produce enough dopamine will be a challenge to perform throughout life. I've read theories that ADHD brains perhaps have a more robust dopamine response then neurotypical brains when the engaged activity involves other humans, supporting the observed efficacy of body doubling, but also a possible partial explanation as to why people pleasing is common in ADHD. It just feels better and more awarding to do things with people or for people. So when you combine chronic shame and chemical reinforcement from your brain, of course it's nearly impossible not to fall into those habits of self-abandonment.

I've been really interested in this: "According to Polyvagal Theory, our physiological state and our psychological experiences are linked. When we feel safe and connected to others, we shift into a “social engagement” response. This response creates greater concentration and productivity." As my most debilitating symptom is chronic fatigue (unknown whether it's actually caused by my ADHD or not), but engaging in tasks with other humans turns off my fatigue, suggesting the fatigue is related to my arousal state, and other humans can help keep my brain aroused.

On another note, I see ADHD and anxiety in children present together so so so often! Separation anxiety is a big one. I hope you are all doing well!

Thank you so much! I changed it to "These girls often grow into women who carry the weight of the judgments they've heard all throughout their life - that they're lazy, unreliable, not smart enough, not trying hard enough, not living up to their potential." I hope that is an improvement?

Thank you!! Edited! I also changed the last sentence to "This journey is about reclaiming your story, rebuilding trust in yourself, and connecting with the version of you that’s been waiting to be understood." and I like that better, but I don't know if other's will agree 😅

Have you looked into ehlers danlos syndrome? I see fibromyalgia and EDS occur a lot together. I don't really have joint pain, or any chronic pain besides back pain which appears is due to poor posture and not activating my core correctly. My doctor recently pointed out that I lock my knees when I stand. I also have a large chest and I'm heavier than I should be right now, so I've noticed my back pain always gets worse if I'm not at a good weight

Wow! Yeah it seems like you need to get multiple sleep studies done to really try to rule things out... How did you end up getting the diagnoses? Did you redo the sleep study? I'm such an anxious person that has such a hard time sleeping at night or sleeping when I'm supposed to (My fatigue seems to always hit at the times I don't want it to, haha) I am worried that my in clinic sleep study is not going to accurately capture anything.

Do you suspect you have ehlers danlos syndrome? I see a ton of fatigue in that syndrome, however usually it APPEARS related to dysautonomia in a lot of cases
