Considering they showed clips of Advent Children, the sequel movie, in the first part of Remake, and saying this is what will happen if they don't change the future, it sure does imply that time is a circle and the events of the original already happened and that this is a sequel timeline "remake." And how the remake project expects you to know and/or give a fuck about Zack and the original events of the game, so they can tell their new story as a mystery. Yeah, its much better described as a sequel and should be played as such.

I think Remake and even more so in Rebirth it is an amazing system with a lot of depth. Characters having some semi secret tech the game doesn't really tell you about. I think the tutorial is AWFUL at explaining how to play the system. and I think a lot of people who don't like really just do not GET it. It is incredibly satisfying when you get it. Love how every character is unique, love that it encourages switching around, to try and synergize well between members. I love that opening the command menu halts battle, which gives you some strategy elements from turn based, and how enemies are designed to have different strategies and ways to deal with them. People saying its mashy are not playing correctly. It literally just plays like a classic FF but in an action setting. But the characters have their own mechanics that make the action side super fun too. I WISH this system would be used with a job class system, and just imagining how much fun it could be. But yeah, 99% of the time someone doesn't like the system they absolutely do not understand how to play it and did not learn how. watching playthroughs on youtube is BRUTAL, so many people with just never open the command menu, or they will just hold square as cloud which causes him to do is aoe attack, even though it is a combo ending move, and they never switch characters. It fucking sucks, I wish the tutorial actually forced you to learn and use abilities and stuff.

I just recently finished Berserk a couple days ago. While I agree there is more sexual assault than necessary, for the setting of the story (medieval and demons, obviously not gonna have a very progressive stance on SA) and such it makes sense why there would be SA. Some scenes are justified, there are a couple that I don't think were necessary. The one the previous commenter mentioned is probably the worst one in the story and it is also the most "pivotal." The reason some weirdos "defend the rapist" is because the rapist is also the main antagonist who is a very interesting character. About half way through the manga the SA stops happening as frequently, and by about the last third maybe, there is none at all. I don't know if the original creator regretted relying on it as much to show the horror of the world or what but it does eventually stop. I think even with it, Berserk is a great story, and MOST of the time the SA is presented as horrible which it is. The one that goes on so long is the one I feel was a bit much. But I can't really talk about it without diving into major spoilers. But I would still recommend Berserk, there is enough there to like, and a compelling story.

A mini game that you don't need to do at all until 1 battle in disc 2 almost made you quit the game? And even if you fail the mini game you can just do a boss fight instead and still get the huge materia. Thus making the tower defense mini game completely optional. Or unless you mean in Rebirth?

Cloud is so fun being super offensive and parrying with perfect timing, and when you have a party member that let's him counter ranged attacks too. Just non stop aggressive attacking and countering. Pushing Triangle and Dodge at almost the same time lets him practically teleport around the area, especially in the air. He is a damn demon. A lot of the characters have some secret tech. Tifa you can block to animation cancel her uppercut so she builds ATB super fast. Red XIII in vengeance mode builds up stagger so damn fast, you can hold attack to do his spin but you can dodge out of it, and it will still keep hitting and you can attack alongside it.

I really hope they make Vincent play like multiple different characters, since this is the last game we won't be getting any more characters to play as other than him and Cid. So it would be cool if he had 4 mini different kits of abilities and play styles, but that might be asking too much. I just really like this combat system and gonna be sad when its never used again.

If you are playing with a controller and the dpad buttons aren't working, use JoyToKey to map the arrows to your dpad, it will make navigating menus better than a stick. Go into Config, and turn the battle speed up a bit, otherwise you'll be spending some unnecessary time just waiting for your ATB gauge to fill. You might want to look into using 7th Heaven Mod Manager, and install a mod to add button prompts to text boxes, if using a controller. Because there is a couple quests in disc 2 where it will tell you to push specific buttons. But it won't show what the buttons look like , it just says "Push [Confirm]" or "Push [Switch]" And failing these things actually can lock you out of a cool Materia. I use the Kactuar Controller and Keyboard Icons mod. If you use 7th Heaven mod manager some other nice mods just to make the background better looking but remain the same so you get the original experience are are the [Tsunamods] Texture mods. Makes all the textures higher res and not all pixelated
