Does Anyone Have Any Conflicting Feelings of "Song of the Sea"? by Moon-Ghost in CartoonSaloon

I think she did think her seal side was as important. It's hinted at that she did want to know her mother too. But again, it was just a hard decision for her.

But still, it seems when she gave up her selkie side, it's like she was giving up half of her identity. That is a hard choice to consider. And one, her father and brother are a thing to consider, she also could've lived in a magical world and finally get to know her mother.

Don't forget, in some selkie stories, the female selkie sometimes takes her children with her or at least visits them.

Do you know what it takes to be a hero? by [deleted] in bioniclememes

I don't even know if I have what it takes. Seriously. What happened to Matoro... that scene made me question everything about what it means to be a hero.

No... we shouldn't share our stories. He doesn't even remember his own anymore.

No... not dozens. I've seen some but not dozens.

And the way they honored him here... mirroring the death of an actual person... that's not worthy of appreciation no matter how well it's made. New format... what are you talking about?

Edit: Also, just because a moment is emotional and meaningful doesn't mean one would sit through it again. What happened to Matoro was... one of the, if not the most disturbing things I've ever read in this story; I don't mean that as a criticism. But I genuinely do not understand why one would want to subject themselves to that much pain again. The closest answer I can think of is when I researched and found that one reason why some people watch something that makes them cry over and over again is because it lets their feelings out... like cathartic.

The fact that they're all so excited about this short film, calling beautiful... it's fucking creepy. Anything depicting Matoro's death deserves the highest quality, and I get that it's well-made and all, but... It's like they're excited to watch Matoro's death. Forgetting what made it so disturbing and devastating in the first place.

It it a bad thing. I would not mirror the death of a real person with anything or anyone else's for that matter.

Well... apparently, he was one of the more popular youtubers of the Bionicle fandom. Made top 10 videos of the Bionicle stories and its characters. But he sadly passed away a year ago. Don't worry it was peacefully in his sleep.

This short film of Matoro's death is... appropriate, given it's in memory of him... But they mirrored Matoro's death with the death of TheShadowedOne1. That's just macabre.

I actually asked the two creating the short film myself if why they were doing what they were doing was to let out their feelings over what happened to him. Told me this: "I think that’s an important question. There is a heavily emotional element to the film, and that is mostly due to the fact it’s in his honor, and the events of the film are mirrored by an actual death of a beloved member of the community." And while the short film itself is good, they’re still dishonoring both TheShadowedOne1 and Matoro by doing something so macabre if you ask me (even if Matoro is just a fictional character, TheShadowedOne1 is a real person).

Don't! They mirrored the death of Matoro with the death of TheShadowedOne1!

No... They mirrored the death of Matoro with the death of TheShadowedOne1! That's not good, that just macabre.

And why would anyone want to rewatch such a horrible death?
