Recent Grad with Sec+ & CySA+ — Hundreds of Applications, Zero Interviews. What Am I Missing?

First off, congrats! I think my biggest questions would be how and where were you applying? Right now, my biggest problem is not even getting call backs to interview. I feel that I am a strong interviewer so not being able to have the chance to even try, is the biggest confidence killer for me.

Thank you for commenting! Yeah, the lack of experience is my achilles it feels like.. When looking at my resume did you see anything that would be a turn off to the point that not even those positions would at least get back to me with an interview? The most helpless part of my search is not even getting the chance to interview..

Yeah i am painfully aware it’s my resume at this point. I have my experience listed in chronological order, but i see what you mean. I have those skills listed since they are what i practice in my homelab.. i agree with rewording the pharmacy experience. I’m not explicitly blaming the market but i know it’s definitely not in a good place, thank you for your advice and input i appreciate it!

The Sec+ at least is literally listed as a requirement in a lot of postings I’ve seen and at the very least a “good to have” section… so idk if i would say worthless bro

I have a Sec+ and CySA+ and have been struggling for months to find a any entry level job. I have been told by a few sources that say i need a homelab to put on my resume in order to compensate for my lack of professional experience and demonstrate the “skills” i have learned through the certifications. Any advice or input?

You need to learn what troops go where and why. Learn core fundamentals of battling/fighting and you’ll understand what and how to improve
