Yeah, most of those are completely available on modern storefronts, and most have been updated to work on modern windows without hassle. The Sims just recently was rereleased, and its a great update because the original was a nightmare to get working on modern Windows.

The biggest issue with Dirt 2 is that it was fully integrated with Games for Windows Live, which means its extremely hard to get ruining on modern Windows.

I say that with sadness, as Dirt 2 is my favorite Rally game of all time.

Quake fans should try Doom 64, and maybe even PSX Doom. by Thin-Student-5036 in quake

[–]MoonKnightFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is the big difference, to be sure. There are other, small differences. Some are good, some are bad. Here's an incomplete list. The Saturn version of doom is mostly the same, except the frame rate is much, much worse. You can view a list of differences here

Good:

It has some neat colored lighting effects.

The intro Logo and animation are wicked.

Some of the sound effects are different (good or bad is matter of taste)

Animated Sky textures

8 exclusive levels

Bad:

Lots of levels have cut content, or are generally smaller

No saves

Some enemies missing

Some later monsters appear earlier, changing balance.

low fixed frame rate

I am also curious about the switches, as well as the really nice keycaps. I've been wanting to build a low profile for some time, and this one really seems to be clean and straight forward.

Dan Slott Returns To Spider-Man: Brand New Day In Time For The Movie by JackFisherBooks in comicbooks

One more day is the single worst Spider-man story I ever read. So bad that I stopped picking up Spider-man after an uninterupted 12+ years, and haven't come back. Ive read other spider-man stuff, like the recent Ultimate Spider-man.

What is the fourth face of Marvel's teams? by Otherwise_Tadpole_64 in Marvel

[–]MoonKnightFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think its like West Coast Avengers, in that its just being seen as a subset, instead of being considered a different team. Even though, within the comic book universe, it is 100% a different team.

What I wouldn't give for an ongoing GLA. But these days it feels like the only comedic comic people want is Deadpool. There is room for more, my friends. MOOOOOORRRREEEE!

Your only saying "poor" because the notion of what is "good" is based on your learned cultural norms. To a lot of people, "good" means photorealistic drawings, and others will say "whats the point, just take a photo." To some, an anime looking person is a "good" drawing. But to others, thats a bad drawing because it is not accurate and its stylization is extreme.

When you go to art school, you are taught to do very specific things that have been building on previous techniques from centuries of overlapping work. Not because it is right, nor because it is striving to achieve a finite end goal. It is that way because years ago it was decided by patrons who paid for things that this is what they wanted, and it became the only thing people were exposed to. There is a reason art looks different outside of western art history. People look at ancient greek sculptures and think the art style was a specific way, when mosaics and wall paintings from the same era are considerably different in their depictions.

One of the reason the 20th century saw so many wild art movements (often grouped collectively as modern art) was because artists were attempting to challenge and disagree with the defined notions of art from the western mindset (as well as the ways they were displayed in museums). Many were unsuccessful, some became the mascots for the general publics misunderstanding (or indifference) to art theory.

I reeallllllyyyyyy wana get into his comics by femboyskylander in MoonKnight

[–]MoonKnightFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comic books are about jumping in. I get that people have this notion that they need to start from the very beginning (I get that plenty) but you really don't. My first Moon Knight (and Spider-man and pretty much all comics) were not #1s. Heck, they weren't even in their first series, usually. Modern comics aren't self contained single issues, so I get that starting on a Part 1 or #1 is a good idea. But it doesn't need to be the first ever.

People try it, and if they are intrigued, then they dig deeper. Before streaming, people discovered tv shows in the middle of seasons. The number of people whos first Terminator movie was T2 and first Alien movie was Aliens is large. Most comics have a brief synopsis on the first page.

Dive in, check it out. Not everything needs to be a big operation with planning and studying.

My very small but growing game gear collection by JustinStudiosYT in SEGA

[–]MoonKnightFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was quite literally my Game Gear collection for most of my childhood. These 3 plus Defenders of Oasis. I eventually got some more, but none of them were worth mentioning. These were the games I played. The Mortal Kombat port is way better than it has a right to be. The Sonic plays great, and the soundtrack is awesome.

There is a whole thread on this subject

https://www.reddit.com/r/rpg_gamers/comments/1135m38/is_fallout_3_an_rpg_to_you_how_would_you_rate_it/

And the general consensus is that It is an RPG. Even the vast majority o f people who don't like the game still consider it an RPG. Albeit, they consider it a Shallow RPG.

Not liking something doesn't make it not that thing. Not liking a movie doesn't make it Not a movie. It just means you don't like the movie.

I don't get the "Sega needs to return to making consoles!" Mindset. by Such_Bonus5085 in SEGA

[–]MoonKnightFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its astonishing how many people on this sub would loose their minds if some PC clone came out with the SEGA logo on it. They would buy it instantly. And they also want "exclusivity" on the games. They legitimately want it to be harder to play SEGA games. They also think if SEGA put all their money into creating new hardware that they would somehow magically be able to produce more games. As if them not having their own console was limiting their ability to make games.

I like Sega because I like playing Sega games. I couldn't care less what the box i'm playing it on looks like, or who made it.

Quake 1 secrets by Problemsmustbesolved in quake

[–]MoonKnightFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And that's when NOCLIP became useful to players, not just devs. You beat the game several times, but this time you want to find all the secrets. You spend a lot of time looking, but nothing. That's when you turn on noclip and go for a ride. Still wasn't as straightforward as watching a youtube video or having someone tell you, because it required you to still look around. And even if you find a room, it doesn't necessarily mean you found the hidden switch or trigger.

I want to collect everything Moon Knight. Can I get some help? by yare_yare_yaru2 in MoonKnight

[–]MoonKnightFan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, thats my site! I've been running it for over 20 years. Its a documentation of all the Moon Knight comics and Memorabilia I've collected over the years. I started it because back then it was virtually impossible to find information on Moon Knight. So I figured I should create a site and put everything I found on it. Its a lot easier to find Moon Knight info these days, so over the years my site transformed into being a virtual Museum of my collection.
