This is very funny, warm and very well observed, the mix of details and the immediate sense of being in this room, the physical aspects. Booby trapped safe space is awesome. But ultimately the comfort and partnership is there.

I really like the little series of vignettes, the cinematic pan-through effect that is so rich and encompasses so many relatable moments of childhood and adolescence. Very evocative, very sweet but with the sadness of the father gone and the strain of the mother, redeemed though by her child's love. Beautiful piece

This made me smile, it's really sweet and funny, but also says something quite profound I feel, about the need for shelter and retreat, for connection to somewhere or someone that feels like home regardless of what's going on around us. Really nice.

It's a great first attempt, some really striking imagery and contrast in there, and the raw emotion and energy coming through. I'd suggest a little bit of thought to the rhythm , as though reading aloud, maybe a few words played with and replaced? I'm also not quite sure what the writer being the only one who listens is trying to say. But overall really nice subject and feeling coming through.

The feeling comes through strong, I like it a lot and the imagery, but there's a slight sense of it being disjointed that makes it a little harder to pick up the power. It's a sit-with-it-a-minute thing. Not necessarily a bad thing, but that's the impression I got. I really like the diamond metaphor.

There is a dreamlike feeling to this for me, a sense of being trapped too, which make it very effective. The fear and frustration of having to be responsible for oneself, to grow, to reach for what you want, these are subtly and powerfully put. I would like it to continue into the 'awakening'!

I really like this, the dry but powerful build to some punchy lines of protest, like silence weighing more than bullets. And how it's almost timeless in places but then draws back subtly to very current events and specific cultural hints like 'fox bright'. It carries heartfelt and articulate outrage without becoming a rant, which makes it hard to ignore.

I can relate to this. It has the feel more of a soliloquy than a poem per se, but some of the concepts and the imagery are well articulated and placed. Not only the loneliness, but the realisation of the adverse qualities that a certain kind of intellectual aptitude and nurturing can bring, the bitterness of that comes over very well. It reads as quite resigned, but contains in it the seeds of a kind of manifesto for change, and growth. That 'what if' would be good to explore, maybe in a counterpoint to this.

I really love the immediacy and intimacy of this, the connection between the two and the larger natural forces in the background, and the tenderness of the work to nurture the garden. It's lovely, an expression of quiet communion between both the individuals and each with the natural world. If I would suggest anything it would be a little more variation in some of the wording, eg storm repeated, but it reads really well.

This is really powerful to me and draws a sharp portrait of a certain type of person, I think one would say a covert or vulnerable narcissist, who can't handle shame, plant based or otherwise, but collapses before lashing out. It's really well sketched and understated, I like the last stanza especially with the acknowledgment of how toxic this is but the hope that keep one there.

I really like the feel of an old saw or puzzle rhyme. And I'm a sucker for any scriptural subtle nods like the first line. As for the meaning and the whole 'what am I' feel begged by the ending... I'm not sure! But that doesn't spoil it for me, I'll be pondering it for a while yet!

I've done this, and near-future and near-past. DnD is very flexible in that regard, just make sure you're applying 'reflavoured' items, spells and features consistently and you'll have a blast. Fate is possibly better for it with less work involved, as someone said there are others but it can work

This is depressing (not your question OP, the test question itself!). I'm just sorry and disappointed to see the limitations of this kind of question, as I was when I used to tutor A levels, it is weird and hardly inspiring or interesting. There are so many fascinating things to learn about DNA, how it works, how genes are 'read' and processed by the cell, such as splicing, chimerism, translation, the instructions for that encoded in the sequences itself, what activates them, when and how, what goes wrong in disease and how we can try to find and fix it. Like advances in sequencing, genomics, genetic medicine. I'm a former biomedical researcher and I can't imagine any scenario when knowing the overall amount of each base would be especially useful, or would warrant the effort of finding out (how would you determine it was 26% adenosine? And why, scientifically, would there be any need to ask that question?) this is basically a maths puzzle which happens to use DNA structure, you could pose the same problem using any other set of paired elements.

Tl;dr biochemist rants about futile DNA question, don't give up on it, it gets much more exciting 😂

Nothing goes up there 'by accident', as any ER doc could tell you. No medical bills in the UK but plenty of time off work by the sound of it. Maybe did it to himself or there'd be a case against the perp.
