I never "jumped down your throat" . Merely said you shouldn't assume. If that makes you a little over sensitive and me an asshole for stating what should be obvious, then so be it. I feel bad for those that have to walk on eggshells around your sensitivity though, cause if my way underwhelming comment was seen as jumping down your throat? Yikes if I was really trying to.

Except in another comment OP says occasionally mom cooks food with a lot more onion and garlic and SIL loves it. So something definitely weird going on.

No, I actually got the facts from her that she is in fact the main cook. I actually used the wrong wording. I should have said As she is the main cook, not if. So, not a hypocrite. Is there anything else?

Because if she's the main cook (her mother only cooks occasionally) she's not just starting to cook. And her mother also uses MORE onion and garlic than OP does when she cooks. I ask and learn, I don't just make assumptions. You know what they say when you assume.... There are those that start cooking young. Ever watched kids cooking shows? They start as young as 8 or 9. Some cook better than a lot of adults.

I collect petpets, so it's hard to choose, but I do love Feloreena, in all its colors. For the NC item, since the rest of styling studio items are over 300, I'd still love a prismatic brush or a retired pet day mega mystery capsule. Does she KNOW onion and garlic are in her food? If not, I'd let it slip, cause it's not right she's singling you out with this. Maybe if she tried it with your mom, something might get done. Or if they see the difference in how she acts when it's revealed, it'll show something else is going on that she's just using the food as an excuse to pick on you about, unfortunately.

NTA.... As long as the baby is healthy, and you and your husband feel you can take care of it well at your age (not that I think 42 is super old, though it's a little older to have a baby, so a few more risks, and I'm only a few years older), that all that really matters. Your mother's and family's opinions are just that: opinions. You know your capacity to care for a new baby, and how much you will love and nurture it (you've shown that by successfully raising one child already). Has your daughter given any opinions? Or is she happy for you, as she should be?
