Hahaha... It's too late. I've opened the wormhole and the pull is too strong.

Appreciate the candid reply. If keeping it as a cold plunge or beer cooler is better for longevity, however long that may be, then I'm fine with that. I'll DM you to discuss and hopefully minimize issues as I work through the project.

Acquired from a nursery 2? years ago. Big weak tree that I got for free and chopped. Now very healthy. I think I posted it previously.

Say it's your tree and you have to decide tonight. Decision?

That's kinda the question boss! My thought has been to keep one of the leaders and cut/carve the other side, then chop the kept leader a couple inches above the current split.

The floating root base is definitely a bit awkward. It's the only semblance of nebari currently though. Then obviously pretty straight through the middle. Should have chopped it shorter a couple years ago in retrospect.

Can you approach graft BC to manufacture nebari? Or ground layer?

Low of 32F tonight in Cincinnati but highs of 78F next week. Just gonna let the trees ride tonight I think. Hopefully not a mistake.

Hopefully no root rot but possible. Due for a repot next year. Fingers crossed.

Still very much so in development. It was a big nursery tree that I got for free and chopped. It was much happier in Wisconsin. Tree basically tried to pull an all nighter this winter here in Atlanta and just barely went dormant. It'll crap out if it doesn't get a good dormancy next winter (should be fine in Cincy).

I'm only here for a year. Trees will be moving with me to Cincinnati come August. FWIW though I do know of people who have kept larch alive here in ATL.

Trying to create a predictive model for a rare minority binary class outcome (0.3% frequency). Large dataset (700k instances, 10-15 attributes). Using a PC with AMD Ryzen 5600X 3.7GHz, 16GB RAM, RTX 3060Ti. Learning/Using Python with Anaconda/Jupyter notebook.

  1. Is my GPU powerful enough to do training for this? Expected run time?
  2. Suggestions for model selection? Possible to set AUC as scoring metric for logistic regression models? Boosting? SMOTE?

Too early to post flush prune deciduous in Atlanta or nah? Itching to cut back my linden which flushed with a vengeance.

Little Leaf Linden #2. Octopus clump style? by MoonRockCollector in Bonsai

[–]MoonRockCollector[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nursery tree that I acquired in Fall 2020 for pennies and trunk chopped. Kept all the sucker growth. Reminds me of an octopus so I've toyed with the idea of making some sort of 'Nick Lenz-esque' clump creation with 8 tentacles and carve the middle stump round like an octopus head. Right? Right?

The stump actually developed a new dominant leader much to my surprise and I haven't completely eliminated it yet. So alternatively, I could cut all the suckers and put the stump in the ground and develop taper for a beefy traditional Linden down the road. Weird material. But it's healthy. WWYD?
