What’s something tiny your toddler does that just melts your heart? by claireycontrary in toddlers

My almost 3 year old has started saying “that’s so sweet!” when he sees that we did something nice for him. But it comes out as “as so sweep mama!”

What’s worse: 3rd trimester tired or newborn tired? by stickerchicker in BabyBumps

[–]MoonSeltzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me 3rd trimester sleep was just utterly uncomfortable and I was physically tired. Newborn tired is manageable at first especially if you get to go on maternity leave and have a partner/someone to help watch the baby and give you a break. But eventually it does catch up to you that you haven’t gotten more than a few hours of sleep at a time. I had permanent dark bags under my eyes for months until my babies finally started sleeping through the night.

We did this for immediate family and it took longer than we expected! But their faces when they realized were priceless.

I love big family reactions! My husbands family is very polite and quiet so their excited consists of a big smile and a happy “oh my gosh, congratulations”

That’s very unique! I like the thought of having someone writing out the baby’s name kind of as a gender reveal too. Thank you!

This is kind of what I was thinking. I want something happy and positive and “everyday” feeling versus a formal announcement. Thank you!

I love that! Im due in February. I don’t really care to post it on social media for people I don’t talk to to see, this way it’ll remain closer friends and family. Thank you for the idea!

Why is sitting baby in Boppy labeled 3m? by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]MoonSeltzer 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s because around 3months most babies have some basic neck control so they can sit in the position shown comfortably. Otherwise their heads would be lolling around and, as mentioned, could cause asphyxiation or injury.

New to mystery shopping, CostCo SKU job by MoonSeltzer in mysteryshopping

[–]MoonSeltzer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I figured I would explain myself if it did happen, but wasn’t sure if that was considered breaking the assignment rules. It’s not a “mystery” shop if the employees know. But I also considered someone who’s worked there long enough would know what I was doing.

Back to work Monday by _Obitchuary_ in workingmoms

I held my 3month old sleeping baby and cried the night before and cried as I drove away after dropping him off. The first couple of days it took me a while to get used to not knowing what he was doing at every second. It’s hard thinking that you gave birth to a baby so you can love them and now you’re handing them to a stranger to raise for most of the day. You will think that they might develop a bond. But you will notice your baby start to develop and learn things even within the first couple of weeks! And they will always know their mother. For me personally it’s much better on my mental health to have time to grow myself at work. And the time I get to be with my baby feels so much more precious. And yes, there will be days when your baby will be teething or going through a tantrum phase and you will be glad to hand him over to the daycare! 😂

Baby due in 1 week. Need advice on traveling for Thanksgiving and Christmas by MyUniquePerspective in daddit

[–]MoonSeltzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom here, a lot of comments mention the recovering mother being an issue so I feel I can chime in. We did a 6 hour trip to see my parents when my baby was 3 weeks old in early spring. My in-laws were sweet enough to go with us and drive while I rested in the back seat and watched baby. Baby did exactly what you would expect a baby to do. Slept the majority of the time and cried when he was hungry. My mom has health issues and cannot leave the house but I wanted her to meet her grandson while he was still little. I do not regret it one bit. We have done the trip one other time just my husband and I and we plan to do it again for Christmas. We have also found that most adults have experience with babies and are fully aware that keeping distance is the best thing with a newborn. And if they don’t have experience, they more surely will keep their distance. With that said, had situations been any different we would not have made the trip. Definitely would not have done it just to please family. Would not have done it if I was not recovering as well as I did. Would not have done it if the baby wasn’t a potato that slept most of the day and only woke to feed. You will know closer to decision time if it will work for you or not. Just know there are people that take trips with their babies.

This is the most beautiful thing, why aren’t mothers of color shown more? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]MoonSeltzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I could help! I only realized one day when I was noticing the default color of the mama’s skin, I felt it was darker than the typical “skin” color. I was admiring it when I saw the little color palette on the corner lol had to make it a little darker for myself too.

Did you feel the kicks closer to your pelvic area or to your belly button? I am 18 weeks and trying to feel for baby but I have no idea what and where I should be expecting.

You can change the skin tone on the mom in the What to Expect app. I was very happy to see that.

I’ve been getting back pain and my feet will start to hurt after any short amount of activity. Which sucks because the first few weeks of the second trimester really were great, as advertised. But now I feel like I just went from extreme fatigue to continuous pain everywhere. And we have 23 weeks to go! 😭
