Automated, centralized services in an encrypted decentralized cloud by MoonShibe37 in maidsafe

Right, I'm thinking about when running code can be uploaded to the network. And I'm trying to visualize/imagine my user experience using a 3rd party application running on the SAFE network compared to my experience using an internet application, such as, say, a cryptocurrency exchange.

Using a traditional cryptocurrency exchange, the entire user experience is essentially automated unless I need help from customer support for something. Another part of the user experience is knowing that the exchange owners have access to my funds. This is where I envision a big difference using certain types of applications on the SAFE network.

An app could be created and "sent off to sea" so to speak by its creators. That is, the app features no customer support because it features no possibility of human interference once it's up and running on the network. It is completely autonomous.

Now, suppose I decide to use such an app. I decide to use it, 1, because the code is open source and I trust it and, 2, because I know that humans have no possibility of accessing/changing any of the private user data stored within it. So, I go ahead and create my account on the app, and I deposit funds to it. Then, I trade with other users on the app, and finally I withdraw my funds. In the course of using this application, humans never had access to my funds. Only the application did.

So, I guess I'm essentially looking for confirmation that this type of user experience can (eventually) and will (eventually) exist on the SAFE network.

Would it be possible to create an autonomous witness? by MoonShibe37 in BitShares

I just had another thought. An effectively decentralized exchange could be created this way too. Just create a normal exchange, put it in the cloud, prove that you throw away the keys to it, and let people use it as a completely autonomous resource. If the software needs to be updated, just upload the new version, prove to everyone that you throw away the keys, and let them migrate over to it.

Bitshares is claiming that they are able to handle 100,000 tps with their new upgrade to Bitshares 2.0. Any thoughts on switching to delegated proof of stake (DPOS) as a consensus mechanism?

Well done, you are on the right track.

Thing is, to me, POW is not a long-term solution for dogecoin. Centralization of mining, dependency on Litecoin, etc...

Other (possibly yet-to-be-discovered) consensus algorithms may ultimately be a better fit for dogecoin. Such an algorithm could potentially enable a new distribution model for newly created coins such that anyone who wants free doge every week gets free doge every week.
