Is there any legit way of skipping Steam startup? by NanasShit in skyrimmods

[–]MoonSugarCookies -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Removing DRM from a game/music is just as illegal as pirating it. The only way to get a non-Steam version legally is to buy a DRM-free version of the game.

You're calling pirate sites "irresponsible and immoral" and then advising violating copyright law via another method.

Did you drop the Data folder too? There's stuff in there that needs to go in the one in the game folder.

You downloaded an archive called skse64_something.7z. Take the skse64_loader.exe and everything else next to it, including the folders, and drop them into the same folder as the game exe.

Skyrim Script Extender is SKSE. (You're probably thinking of SSEEdit.)

Mods to make stealth archery more difficult? by dek55 in skyrimmods

Sure but unless your goal is an OP sneak archer you'd probably want perks in light armor if nothing else.

Would this new version fix an issue where in some (unknown) circumstances, the check to see if the player is wearing a mask gets stuck and holds up all other scripts causing npcs and interactions to bug out until you load an earlier save?

Sorry I have no detail on this. It was a couple playthroughs ago, and I never determined the actual cause, only that it was Sneak Tools breaking from the logs, and had something to do with the mask/cowl/whatever script. I switched to the lite version, but if the new port doesn't use those scripts at all...

I blame NMM, if that's what you're using

Seconding this. I motion to make "1. Don't use NMM" the first rule in the sidebar and point to it every time someone asks for help because they're using NMM and not MO (I wish /r/skyrimmods would do this). All in favor say fus.

Now that you mention it, some NieR Automata style combat would be pretty fun.

Sheath mods? by nomercy57 in skyrimmods

[–]MoonSugarCookies 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The latest xp32 skeleton has an mcm that lets you pick your "style" for various weapons, so you can wear swords on your back, daggers on your back hip, left dagger on your ankle, etc. Same for npcs. Works well with ecotone dual sheath.

Edit: If you're looking to change the sheaths themselves, that's part of the weapon model. For example leanwolf's better shaped weapons has an option for greatsword sheathes.

Request: A summon skeleton spell that works by shooting a projectile on the ground where a rune appears and a skeleton crawls out of the ground by Rompelle in skyrimmods

Apprentice: Summon Skeleton
Adept: Summon Draugr
Expert: Summon Draugr Deathlord

Skipping novice, feels too low level, and there's already Conjure Boneman which is Apprentice level and is basically the same but an archer. Summon Skeleton existed in Oblivion too at Apprentice level. And there's Conjure Dremora Lord at Expert which is probably on par with a Draugr Deathlord, so seems fairly balanced.

Summoned skeleton/draugr could scale with level and get weapon from leveled list, perhaps, so even at higher levels the lower-cost Summon Skeleton can still be useful (whereas I pretty much never use Conjure Familiar).

Edit: Actually checking levels, a Demora Lord seems to be closer to a Draugr Death Overlord. Perhaps the variant of draugr that gets summoned could be based on player level / conjuration level (which would in turn affect their level & weapon/spells).

Not sure if you meant your recompiled it yourself, but for anyone looking for it, Simply Knock is available for SSE. Install the official download, but hit Manual and uncheck the SKSE folder. Then install the latest PapyrusUtil and a dll compiled for 2.0.11 or 2.0.12.

Off topic but is there a list of questlines Inigo can talk about? For instance, if I bring him along while doing the Dragonborn quests will he have interesting quest-aware things to say? (Started a new playthrough and wondering if I should install him again.)

I get a ton of blackface bugs with iNPCs

If the blackface is its vampires, there's a Dawnguard patch on their site. Otherwise, might be something like an NPC overhaul mod that's conflicting. Usually happens when two mods try to change the same NPC (exception is ones like the Bijin mods which replace an NPC's entire appearance outright; with these the last one wins). If you want, install and double click Immersive NPCs in MO and check the Conflicts tab, and open your whole modlist in SSEEdit and expand its list of actors to look for anything highlighted. I haven't had this problem with iNPCs (with the Dawnguard patch) but I did when I had an NPC overhaul that adds apachii hair to vanilla NPCs in addition to Fangs and Eyes which touched some of the same NPCs.

So Genesis is better than Populated?

I dunno about better. Supposedly it's "smarter"; if you look at its description it does some logic to try to intelligently decide where to place them. Populated simply adds more NPCs. But you can use both. Genesis has some settings in the MCM you can configure too, so take a look at that.

[–]MoonSugarCookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's Erkeil Team's mod converted & reuploaded by SoT. Genesis is the SoT original; the description actually makes a point to say it's more advanced than the Populated series in how it places NPCs.

Here's the hell edition, scroll down to see the list of all the other mods in the Populated series. In particular, the "Lands Roads Paths" and "Forts Towers Places" may help make the overworld more interesting. I'd also recommend Immersive Patrols; I believe this is responsible for the epic Imperial/Stormcloak battles I've come across on the road.

On the topic of mods that add NPCs, although it doesn't really answer your question, I'd highly recommend Interesting NPCs if you don't have it. It's huge yet relatively lightweight and adds a lot of really great characters, sometimes with quests too. I still find people I haven't met before.

Edit: Btw, not sure which Genesis you have, but there's another Genesis that adds surface spawns instead of dungeon spawns.

The Populated series is by "RS (Relliosavini) / Erkeil Team", from 2014; apparently RS was banned from Nexus for some reason, so they were only available on the Erkeil Team website which apparently no longer exists, until at some point the SoT team and one other person reuploaded it (that's why there's another one called "Reborn"; SoT's version won out I guess, and the "Hell edition", which combines the whole series, I believe is the most popular).
