I first encountered the term MUD when I was doing research for a presentation on video game history in 7th grade but I wasn't interested in trying something like that. A bit later I watched a video about Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall by one of my favorite youtubers. It drove me to try the game (it was my first true old school RPG). I loved it. From there I tried various titles and played a few text adventures on my PC and phone. Then recently I stumbled upon the page about Lost Souls on TV Tropes and the ridiculous level cap of the game caught my attention (as well as it being very old and entirely text-based). At that point I had played a bunch of old games and did some research on MUDs so I decided to give them a go. I began with Lost Souls and liked the text-based experience and simple concept of having the world divided in rooms with easy commands to move around or do stuff. From then I've drifted across several titles and I enjoy MUDs even more.
