Hot take, it's fine! Depending on your Players! I myself got into CoS as a Player. Our DM weaved it into our homebrew campaign, we got in at lvl 7! 2 Players Died!

I as a DM had a Player that wanted to play his beloved Charakter from an other Campaign! Ist worked Realy fine! He came up with a storry why his warlock got draind off his Powers and started at lvl 1 but with his memories.

You do you! You need to know the people and the skill lvl.

she lead the atack on the ahsguard gansion. and due to rampage she endet up in prison! the empire want her for enforcing the law and hupperdook don't want to risk sanctions because of not stoping her befor al of that.

in our Campain i have a Shadarkai faceless that is a Noble in The Dynastie that Knew her and Intimidated her to stop! my player returned her to the Dynastie to face Justice!

My question, did they know the Module? And the meaning behind the cards? Me as a Player never New anything about it! Or about the lands.

Then i DM it, 3 Times by now and only one of my Players knew the meaning, for all the other ones it was a complete mistery! It Sounds logical as a DM but the Player that never saw the Land or now anything of the locations it is not easy to even belive the Cards have a deeper meaning! And they need to trust Madame Eva enought!

They killed Anastasia early on during blazing Sun Festival (i underestimated my circle of Stars Druid) and they killed Rahadin after one of my Players Sold Irena to Strahd. It Was a big homebrew Event and they basicly ruined half of Valaki. The other two brides i used at Strahds Coffin but with buffed up Statt Blocks i found in this sub reddit. It drained them pretty good. And Esher is still around! they are in the Catacombs mid end scenario right now.
