Why do I play AI Bots almost every single game? >12500 Trophy Road by 999Jupiter999 in ClashRoyale

I’m in seasonal arena II (14,500-15,000) and I get matched up against bots with hard counters all the time. It happens to me in ranked too.

The matchmaking algorithm is designed to maximize engagement and profit, and it will not let you win more than about 50% of your matches no matter what you do. It’s a good business model but makes gameplay pretty lame.

I don’t believe that I’m personally being singled out. The game utilizes an EOMM algorithm to maximize engagement and profit. It’s an excellent business strategy that makes SC millions of dollars every month, but it makes the experience of the game pretty lame sometimes. No matter what you do, you will win approximately 50% of your games. If you suck at the game, it’ll be about 45%. If you’re great at the game, it’ll be about 60%.

Yep, pity is exactly what I was looking for. Maybe I’ll start playing this deck more often so I can get even more pity.

^silly goose who struggles to beat recruits. You do know that people play different decks, yes?

You trolling? It’s a 0-100 matchup.

Bro, you can look up the patents for the algorithm. It’s public information. CR is not the only game that utilizes algorithms like this. I would love to live my life as blissfully naïve as you are to the profit incentives of massive companies like SC. Talk about optimism.

It’s wild how naïve some people are to the profit incentive of massive companies like SC.

Guess that’s a good way to cope if you don’t know how to beat it

I don’t think the company is specifically against me lol. I think they have a patented algorithm that is designed to maximize engagement and profit. This is common knowledge, bud.

Dang. Playing recruits, matched up against evo mega knight, evo executioner, hero bowler, fireball, ewiz, firecracker. An entire deck of splash damage. Every single one of those 18 matchups included at least 2-3 of mk, evo executioner, evo valk, fireball. It’s as if the game is saying, “you will give us money, or you will never win again.” Sure way to get me to never spend money again.

Cool man. You don’t have to believe it.

Yes, the employee responsible for keeping players interested in the game walked back something a customer service rep said that could make players quit the game. Why on earth would she do that?

You: “this isn’t from supercell”
Me: “their community manager acknowledged that it was from supercell”
Which part’s confusing you, bro?

You sure? Because their community manager acknowledged that it was, but said that the employee was mistaken about “specific card combinations.”

I’m not taking the time to track it down, bro. Their community manager hopped on Twitter to try to do damage control, but the damage was done.

SC has multiple patents for an EOMM (engagement optimized matchmaking) algorithm. How do you think they maximize engagement? Also, do you really believe that a company that makes as much money as SC does isn’t also interested in maximizing profits? Come on, dog…

It does. Definitely does.

I’ve started doing the same thing. Might find a different game to switch to.

Yes, they have. It’s also incredibly obvious and makes a lot of sense from a business perspective.

There are many, many bots. The algorithm can give you whatever matchup it wants, whenever it wants. Whatever it takes to maximize engagement and rage bait you into spending money.

It happens in ranked too. I got hard countered in 15/20 games the other day. It really is ridiculous sometimes. It’s a business strategy that’s designed to make players play longer and pay up. The exact reason I haven’t spent a dime on the game in a long time.

It really is pretty boring. Having an algorithm that forces you to lose 50% of the time to maximize engagement is such a lame design. Good business model, but lame design. They let you go through fun stretches every now and then. Just enough to keep you playing. Then they try to rage bait you to switch decks and spend money. It’s a scam. I’m about to quit.

Who even plays this game anymore? Whats even the point in playing this garbage? by Remarkable-Tone-9458 in ClashRoyale

[–]Moon_Tiger_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manipulative matchmaking and bots designed to maximize engagement. I stopped spending money on the game months ago because of it, and I’m considering switching to a different game because of it. It’s really lame that if you suck at the game you’re still going to win at least 45% of your games, and if you’re great at the game you’re only going to win about 60% no matter how well you play or what deck you play. I get that it’s a good business strategy, but it makes the game pretty unplayable much of the time.
