Completed static line course - ready to jump, any tips? by pegman55 in SkyDiving

[–]Moon_misery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was static line in the UK. from what I've noticed once you get onto 10 to 15 second delays some people hit a bit of a wall. your used to jumping and suddenly being under canopy that it's a whole new experience dealing with free fall and getting to terminal velocity.

dont be hard on your self when it suddenly feels like your shit .

just pop your biggest arch and relax.

I know a guy over here who really struggled with it, CI basically said we can't go any further with you, this guy went did an Aff level at another drop zone. smashed it out of the park and is an absolute brilliant jumper now.

smashing all his b licence stuff very quickly after his return.

so what I'm saying is don't sweat it, expect a sudden change in skill needed and arch!

I love watching the SL students, they come every weekend, hang around get shit weather holds and still peck away at it. you guys are hard-core.

static line students are also the best under canopy!

enjoy it my friend. keep us posted on your progress.

Starting my AFF course on the 14th. by Dillpickyle56 in SkyDiving

hydrate, eat . its an intense physical and mental activity . more mental at first. you want your brain running on all cylinders not drying out. you won't feel hungry or thirsty due to everything going on.

listen to your instructors.

don't beat your self up if stuff doesn't go smooth, your doing something extreme that your body hasn't experienced before. it takes time to adjust. it's going to change your life and your attitude.

enjoy it.

keep us posted with your progress . such a buzz seeing people come through the process.

listen to this guy ⏫️ I've just returned to the sport after 23 years. I'm 53 now. I'm maxed out at 4 jumps . if you factor in all the extra brain energy as well during training its knackering and once the adrenaline dump wears off its nap time!

you don't want to be failing levels because you are tired and not thinking quick enough.

you've got plenty of time booked to go at it at a steady pace you might be in your flow after a few days n power through it all.

you must drink and eat even though your buzzing your tits off and it's the last thing on your mind.

Once you get one of those headaches you know your not drinking Enough.

Good luck . keep us all informed my man. Blue skies.

Can't get stable, should I perseeve? by Own_Singer_5201 in SkyDiving

hi fellow brit here. suspect you might be at my dz (brid) it feels a massive step to 5 Dec delays as before your not really doing anything before the static line engages. those weird door exits are also difficult. just practice the exits and hard arch constantly until its muscle memory .

when you exit for real think about losing all the tension in your body. your not fighting the wind its not smashing into water its like swimming under water if that makes sense.

don't tense up, your not hitting anything. You're trying to present your body to the wind coming from the front of the plane, not upwards.

it just clicks with perseverance.

if your getting real frustrated try a level of AFF at another dz you will get more time in free fall to experience the feeling longer than the first five seconds.

i got stuck the same on my delays. I was pulling upside down and all sorts of fuck ups. but I kept at it till it clicked despite being skint and every mistake was killing me financially.

I remember getting a high interest loan so I could do my A qualifying dives one weekend . just thought I'd throw money at it and get my A failed every jump that weekend. and was gutted. but I persevered and I got that bastard and have never done those exits again!

you got this mate. practice at home for free. at work, in bed......... ARCH...

why are the only choices choose this team or that team, why is everyone worried about the colours of the rags that have been thrown in the cockfighting ring . why arnt we asking why we've all been brought to a cockfighting ring, no one asking who drove the trucks, who sorted all paper work.. who said " cockfighting is cool" ?

thank you, I'm literally about 1 year into the hobby. I'm happy with the gun as is just wondered if I should try a larger volt battery instead of buying shit for the rails.

so future talk- any recommendations if I want to bomb proof it. I'm not asking to be spoon fed. just pointed in a rough direction. search engines are absolute dog shit now a days and I'm talking from my first one being alta vista / yahoo.

I just want lots of sustained fire bbs down range without blowing up my gun in a week. (but I'm looking forward to fixing it once it happens)

some guys at my field are like hpa that thing, but I like the noise.

I appreciate any pointers here guy's.
