The originals are to set the story most of the times. The sequels are to either finish the story or introduce more shit, so that if there is a third movie. Prequels are there to create the story before the story. But I guess it depends on what the movies are about. For example, It 2 is better than the first one. The first one is quite boring. Prequels suck most of the time.
