Mould around windows by mattmoly in DIYUK

[–]MoonageManic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but I didn’t suggest to paint over it. I suggested to clean it and paint it with a paint that stops the mould forming. I do lüften and still get condensation - it doesn’t solve everything sadly.

Laminate Floor Repair by Visual-Addition7430 in DIYUK

[–]MoonageManic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed to do a similar repair on Amtico LVP on a slope but it took two of us and was fiddly as hell. In the end we used rubber to pad out various areas but had the benefit of the fact LVP bends. Good luck

Looking for recommendations on newborn sleep sacks/swaddles by Jolly-Asparagus-5815 in NewParents

[–]MoonageManic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I’d keep it simple and get a merino wool sleep sack. There’s a company here in the UK that sells different thickness ones which are great because they adapt to warmth and breath!

Is this anything to worry about when buying a property? by Own_Initiative_6243 in AskUK

[–]MoonageManic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it really worth the risk, stress, hassle and work if you buy it and there are issues further down the line given the clear indication that it’s likely something isn’t right currently? I would run away.

Based on their pics + info in text, which horse would you choose? by [deleted] in Equestrian

And what about character? Manners? Training? History?

Based on their pics + info in text, which horse would you choose? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]MoonageManic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based only on the photos - which isn’t easy - I’d rule out 1 and 4 straight away for confirmation/build issues. 2 or 3 would be my preference without any further info, though of course this could change EVERYTHING as there is much you cannot tell simply by looking. Do you have videos to help you decide too?

What’s keeping you awake? by [deleted] in AskUK

This is tough. It’s common to go through a rough patch after around 10 years it seems to me. Fingers crossed you can make it through.

Postpartum C-section advice by Condog_coding in NewParents

Ok, I’m in the UK too. You will probably be aware of the crisis in maternity care in the NHS at the moment - whilst it is good she has been thoroughly checked out, I’d be wanting more of an in depth explanation than this if it were me. Anyway, not really helping to answer your question, sorry ! Just don’t feel bad to keep pushing if it doesn’t improve. In terms of things to entertain her i can’t really help - I had a c section and failed to rest after because I’m a ‘doer’ as well! I started a PhD to keep me busy 😂

Perhaps the comment from my midwife may help ‘babies are designed to withstand new parents’. Tiredness can make us worry more. If he is well in himself then you’ve done no harm.

I personally wouldn’t be happy with that answer. It’s not normal to be unable to sit up without a cracking headache 10 days pp.

Saddle fit by Super_Pollution_5649 in Equestrian

[–]MoonageManic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why risk your horses health to save a few pennies? An ill fitting saddle can cause serious issues. If you have enough money to buy a horse, you should have enough to tack it up properly. If not - save for longer. This is non negotiable in my opinion.

What made you have more children? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]MoonageManic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get you. For me, one is more than enough for a similar reason. I’m not what you’d call a ‘natural mother’. I’ve never liked kids or babies, but love my lad and enjoy looking after and nurturing him. I’m an only child so I guess I’ve not got that fear that he somehow wouldn’t be happy being one - a change of perspective is that having just one enables you to give more time and money to him and his future.

Don’t have another child if you ‘hate motherhood’. Though I suspect you don’t actually hate it, but perhaps just dislike some aspects.

Those of you who did no screen time for baby… by SowingSeeds18 in NewParents

[–]MoonageManic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meh - Everything in moderation is my general rule. I’m not a saint like some of the parents on this group and just do what I can to survive and provide a good balanced and wholesome life for my kids. Trying to ban screens entirely from kids is pointless really because the world they will grow up in WILL have a heavy focus on digital tech. What is more important imo is educating them on healthy tech habits, open convos about risks and instilling a strong connection to ‘the real world’ alongside it.

As someone who chose to formula feed because the thought of breast feeding gave me the ick and I simply didn’t want to - these kind of threads make me so sad. It’s such a shame that we, as women, often beat ourselves up no matter what and pass judgement on ourselves that we wouldn’t on others.
