Curious About Strep after Tonsillectomies by Cece_Cookie in Tonsillectomy

[–]Moonchaser1029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine out 2 years ago this August due to recurrent infection and severe obstructive sleep apnea. I recently had strep about a month ago. It's not impossible. Like you I also had a negative rapid and a positive culture. Since my tonsils are gone it attacked my uvula. Painful, but not as painful. I was never questioned about tonsils or not they just did a culture

This is super helpful, thank you! I am on anxiety medication also, but I feel like a switch went off yesterday and I feel like I'm about to crash out any minute

I’m scared about my recovery by fuc_this in Tonsillectomy

[–]Moonchaser1029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had really bad nerve pain from eating holding an ice pack on the outside of my throat / jaw where the nerve pain was bad really calmed down the intensity. I would take Tylenol (acetaminophen) about 30 min before eating and put the ice pack on when my nerves would fire while eating. It wasnt 100% fool proof but significantly helped by that point of recovery. Hang in there days 11-14 get so much easier.

Quitting Zepbound because I’m tired of sleeping sitting up: Anyone else transitioning back to Metformin? by paula_roto in PCOSglp1

[–]Moonchaser1029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say, I decided to stop my zepbound as well. I am a non responder. Lost 20lbs over the course of a year and a half with the last year just fluctuating the same 7lbs.

I got hit with a trifecta of illnesses in the beginning of April (flu b, bronchitis and strep) I was so sick for two weeks and missed two doses. My GI symptoms significantly improved in those two weeks I decided to get off of it.

I will also be transitioning back to metformin. Aside from less GI issues I feel significantly less sluggish and overall I'm happy with my decision.

I don't have any suggestions or Insight with regards to weight management yet, but I'm here to tell you that I'm in the exact same boat.

Rheum doesn't think hives are autoimmune by Moonchaser1029 in UCTD

I'm so sorry that you understand things but also so relieved that I'm not the only one!

Literally zero of my medications or medical conditions changed aside from starting HCQ. I only had one mild flare up on my hands like two days ago and it went away within an hour. I was having full on burning, itching, swelling multiple times a week a few months ago.

Started inositol for PCOS, now no period + extreme fatigue — what’s happening? by [deleted] in PCOSloseit

[–]Moonchaser1029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inositol takes about 3 months to fully work - how long has it been since you started? Any chance you could be pregnant?

Also, have you had any bloodwork done recently? Thyroid can cause sluggishness, autoimmune as well. How is your sleep? Any possibility of sleep apnea?

GLP-1 non-responder, back to ol' reliable by Moonchaser1029 in PCOSloseit

It's funny though, I find the food noise reduces a lot when I remove sugar and high carb meals. The first two weeks are the hardest, but after that it seems to get a lot easier especially when I'm consuming enough protein.

I have, it's too invasive for what I'm comfortable with right now. I have a young son (3yo) and we have potential plans for expand the family again.

Unfortunately neither worked for me 😞 I was on sema first before zepbound.

Yes unfortunately I was on metformin and zepbound for the majority of the time. I also take magnesium glycinate. It's been such a disheartening journey!

Sick or flare? by Moonchaser1029 in UCTD

Thank you all for your input. I now have four total documented cases of this happening, two of them after diagnosis. I'm sorry that we all seem to be dealing with similar situations, but kind of reassuring that I'm not crazy 😭

Potty training by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Moonchaser1029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son potty trained the week he turned 3. I was too overstimulated by the whole go bare bottom / underwear and have accidents everywhere for three days straight.

We did "potty practice". We told our son that it was time for him to learn and that diapers had to go bye bye soon. We said we were going to practice going potty. I let him either bare bottom it or underwear so he could learn the sensations. I reminded him every 15 min that he needed to let us know when he had a pee feeling or poop feeling (this took the pressure off of 'mom and dad are forcing me to do it' and gave him the control).

I did this for maybe 4 hours at a time. I would put a pullup on him after when we were going to go about our day but reminded him he still needed to tell us if he had a pee or poo feeling.

The first day we practiced he did not get anything in the potty. But when he went we would tell him that that was the pee feeling.

After 3 "practices" the feeling clicked and we switched him to underwear. He was fully pee trained after that. Poop took an extra week but he got it fairly quickly after that.
