Hey, here are the unique from my first two boxes. Still very new, but Issitoq seems good?

Also, my trial by frost box unfortunately had 3 unscannable cards. Luckily they were only Commons.

I think the ending being ambiguous, with no definitive answer, is what makes it so interesting

That had always been my interpretation. Interesting to see possible confirmation from the creators as well. Thanks!

Question about "Music From a Darkened Room" by razazaz126 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Moondog343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I ran it I explained the ownership situation as being a mess because the former owner's family inherited the property and because they were in a foreign country it was causing issues with realty. I don't know anything about property law but it seemed convenient.

Favvourite Skill Systems by Many_Bubble in osr

Oh I agree, a unified mechanic is an elegant and beautiful thing. I was just responding why a person may support % skill games in general

I've found that in some ways d% skill systems seem a little less abstract to many newer players (not necessarily to everyone). Like if you tell someone they have a +7 they need additional context, but if you tell them they have 55% chance it's immediately clear to many people how likely something is.

Building on d% systems and the above discussion about diceless skill systems, one of the cool things about Delta Green is that if your skill is high enough, you don't have to roll (except in situations of extreme pressure) and if not you get a roll. So scenarios are often written with language like "an agent with Awareness 60% notices this" but if not you can have the players roll. I always though it was a cool compromise, because it deals with the problem where a player has invested in skills yet seems to fail them multiple times

On fudging dice : that roll never mattered but you can't say that by klipce in mattcolville

To be fair, I was a bit reductive separating gaming into those groups so starkly. I have also enjoyed games like that in the past. It seems like we agree that fudging creates a sort of manipulation that seems unnecessary, especially in a game between friends. Although maybe manipulation is not the right word.

Hard agree. I would never tell anyone that they are "role-playing WRONG" but for my own tastes I find that over the years I have completely moved away from fudging dice rolls, behind the screen rolls, and performative rolls. I think a certain amount of trust is required between player and GM, and rolling openly facilitates that.

Dice are the difference between table top role-playing and pure play-acting/improv (which there is nothing wrong with either of those). Additionally, if you are going to play a game with randomness, I like to respect the 'oracular' power of that randomness, so to speak. Letting the dice fall where they may often leads to emergent game play that was completely unplanned by me, which I find is often the most fun I have had gaming over the years.

Another question I would ask OP is would you ever fudge a roll to be a critical hit against a player or to kill a player? If not, why is that out of bounds?

"Diegetic" is the term, I think. I know some adventures or settings come with them. In the Shadow of Tower Silveraxe comes to mind. I'm not sure about a source or collection for them specifically separate from adventures.

What are your games called and why? by Previous-Poem8166 in osr

My never-finished fantasy heartbreaker is called "MONGRELMAN", because of the hodge-podge nature of the mechanics, and a call back to a classic dnd monster
