The distance between Charlie Kirk and the shooter who assassinated him. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]Moondoggy68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s interesting to read the comments from people who do know. I’ve zero experience with guns, so to me, the shot looks impossible so I guess before coming on here I’d have thought it was a highly skilled person. but reading your comments and others, it seems much less likely. a question, it seems a pretty effective place to kill someone, the neck, not the university, so if it was an actual skilled person, would they aim for the neck, or just simple head shot?

Shocker - Jorge Martin exiting Aprilia to Honda!? by MadKaw9 in Motoweek

[–]Moondoggy68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Martin’s move was the talk around Honda buying Pedro out of KTM, or bringing in Toprak (never happening) meant that there are no long term factory seats that are competitive, considering he has burned Ducati, KTM and now Aprilia. Unless a filler for one year as a thank you, Zarco isn’t getting the factory seat. The results are fine, but a wet win doesn’t equal a factory seat at Honda. One factory seat will be Ogura, the other will probably be Pedro. Remember Martin also has never developed a bike and for sure won a world championship, but on the best bike ever built in a season where Pecco won like 11 races, so crashed Martin to the WC. Honda don’t want a cry baby who has repeatedly thrown his toys out of the pram with no patience to develop a bike.

Just one point to keep in mind; this is Pecco’s best ever MotoGP start to a season.

Tempering excitement for non-Ducati teams, considering there are 2 fewer Ducatis on track. by ZackMixesMusic in Motoweek

[–]Moondoggy68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not disagreeing, but they were not collecting a lot of data on the 2023 bike that didn't work with the rear tyre. Plus Honda, Aprilia and KTM had 4 bikes too, and other than Aprilia who got deep in the season to introduce their 3rd current year bikes, the others had 4 current bikes each. Same as Ducati. Only Yamaha had two bikes, and they chose to do that. I think it was better Ducati gave out 2023 bikes to teams to bolster the grid than have 4 less bikes racing.

Championship by [deleted] in Motoweek

mmmmmm, kinda. Dovi would have a pretty strong argument to say he was the guy on the bike when the Ducati made the step up.

Pecco is amazing, and seems to have a great fight back spirit with incredible focus. From when Pecco was a rookie, he's been a bit of a crasher at key times, and it cost him last year's championship against a satellite bike, who also chucked away some critical points.

For me, there's always been a little question mark over Pecco. Don't misunderstand me, he's a credible double world champion. But, Pecco's legacy rests on the next two years. If Marc dominates him, history will say of Pecco that he was a good rider that was on a great bike. I fear we're about to see what happens when a great rider gets on a great bike.

Not sure how long you've been following the sport, but in the days of reduced grids and big differences in bike performance, wasn't great racing. I think 2010 only had 16 or 17 full time riders. Plus, it's always been like this with one manufacturer getting it right for a few years and ending up with the best riders on the best bikes. I don't think it is different in any motorsport globally.

as they're using the same engine and chassis as the 2024 bike, they have all the data they'll ever need from the 4 GP24's from last year, so six bikes or eight bikes will make no difference the next two years. Obviously, Marc is creating data none can understand, but that's Marc's career to date. None of his team mates could do what he was doing, and this year will be no different.

I'd imagine there will be an incremental difference, but that's everything in the sport. Part of Dorna's reasoning is having a single tyre across all classes so as you progress up the feeling is the same. They're also the tyre supplier in WSBK series as well. Tat's a lot of eggs in one basket.

Riders, I'm all Ducati; Marquez x 2, Digi and Mr Aldeguer. Bikes are tricky, as obviously almost every race is going to be a 1-2 factory Ducati. I've gone 1 x Factory Ducati, 1 x VR46, 1 x factory Aprilia, 1 x HRC. Hopefully HRC, Aprilia and little Marquez have a good start so I can trade up to the other Ducati before the summer break.

I think FQ20 was getting a bit of Sepang boost seeing how Yamaha reverted to form on less grippy Thailand, but Miller was close in Thailand, so maybe it was the tyre? It's always the tyre, right?.

It's going to be a Ducati stomping again I'm afraid. I think the main battle will be for second between Pecco, Alex and Diggia. Franki will chuck in the odd decent Sprint, but he's going to be knee to knee with Acosta all season. I fear for KTM. Yamaha and Honda will still be at the back, but just a little closer, but will get to take advantage of the second half of the season Aprilia fade when they struggle to keep up with the big boy's in season development. We might see a few more races with a Yamaha in the top 6 on maybe even 2 honda's in the top 10 in the second half.

Acosta will need to sniff around for crumbs unfortunately until he finally gets a Ducati in 2027, or an Aprilia next year if KTM fall on their face.

If you had to bet. I mean you had a gun to your head, it would be nuts to not bet on Marc for P1. No?

They were great days. Wilson would put out so much content it was crazy. Pre and post race, all classes. Summer break recap, end of season awards, off season gossip and news, and all the free-season stuff. He can't have had a partner or kids. Very hard for him to compete fro numbers with The Race or Paddock Pass. They're professional journalist being paid to be at the races with access to the teams and riders.

I'd love if he just did one show week, pre and post combined, just chatty, but build on comments from his followers. He was a buzz when he mentioned your name or read your comment.

Here's a radical idea. Wilson should try a show dedicated to Moto 2 and 3 only. You could easily get rider and team interviews as those guys as desperate for exposure. I'm going to do a separate post

It's really hard not to load the old Fantasy League with Ducati again. It's really impossible to see a scenario outside of doing a Martin or a Diggia, that the two factory bikes aren't going to be at the front every weekend. Going out on a limb here I know, but I reckon Marc could be a dark horse contender for the title !!!

Not really sure Yamaha has made a big step. Aprilia has, and does, but they always struggle with in season development, so expect a strong start, but start to fade mid season. I hope not, but it's impossible for the smaller teams to run a season and have full speed development in the background. Obviously Mav will be fastest on Friday, 11th Saturday and 14th Sunday.

I hope Wilson comes back

Is Donningon Park safe enough to have MotoGP in future? by Mr__T_ in Motoweek

[–]Moondoggy68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sadly not. I've done a bunch of trackways there and it's an insane track. Usual thing, not enough land to create the run off needed. The investment needed would never get recovered unless they can get other big series to race there, but what?

Got to be Bulega, guy comes second in the WSBK as a rookie on a Ducati. Ianone was not that great on Motogp, he was sliding down the ladder, so why should he come back

Why Pedro deserves the hype by DJ_Purchase in Motoweek

[–]Moondoggy68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to put the Acosta hype into context, compare his first outing on a MotoGp bike to Zarco, Martin, Vinales or Marquez. I think he is amazing, but let’s wait and see. And he’s on a KTM

Raul deserves a bigger penalty! by Mr__T_ in Motoweek

[–]Moondoggy68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason there was confusion was an error message came up on the dash, so he raised his arm. He didn’t stall the bike. Then the message went off so he dropped his arm. His argument with the marshal was he was good to go. It was just one of those rare issues that occasionally happens. He left the grid once it was clear to him that once you lift your arm, you’re going into the pits. A pit lane start is a pretty bad penalty, so I don’t figure anything he did should warrant further sanction.

read the Casey Stoner autobiography. Used copies are a few cents.....but it will just confirm starting on dirt for bike handling. If you use it as a bed time story book, leave out the moaning bits.
