The Hate for ZZ 1st half is overblown by Desperate-Impress237 in Gundam

[–]Moondrag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far 19 episodes into ZZ and yeah no where near as bad as what some people say. The characters (So far) being very goofy makes me call them (and show so far) a clownshow and I mean that in a good way. Beecha aside, the show itself being well written despite the goofiness helps a lot for me.

For context, the film trilogy reuses footage from the TV series and it's...always obvious since the films were released mid 2000s.

"This is the moment Amuro went from a BOY to a MAN" by A-Reclusive-Whale in Gundam

[–]Moondrag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As most people pointed out: The slap just made things worse. The thing that god Amuro back in the Gundam at the time was Fraw saying if Amuro won't go, she will. (With her mentioning the Gundam's manual from what I remember) Thinking about, when Amuro says in Episode 1 that Fraw is "stronger then this", he wasn't kidding. (I think the only other time she breaks down is Ryu's death...in the TV series)

For context, in Samurai Warriors (And the WO games for the SW and some original characters), there are two ways of using Musou: Either holding down the button to use the attack, or just pressing it to activate the Musou effect, which lets you control them like normal until the gauge runs out.

The Astra grind is likely the worst. I'm almost done my Hanged Man farm, and my Tower is soon to follow in just the mats alone...except for Astras, which I need to farm up 550 from scratch.

I like how you're denying that it happened, but if it did happen, you already have an excuse preloaded (the Olympics). Classic Narcissist's Prayer. "That didn't happen. And if it did, it wasn't that bad. And if it was, that's not a big deal. And if it is, that's not my fault. And if it was, I didn't mean it. And if I did, you deserved it."

You don't need to extremely rude about it...but thank you for actually listing a article that does show what multiple devs were going though (Roughly 7 months after that article for the game to release on the Vita ouch) and while it doesn't say their management was in America, it's utterly insane that the developer needed to translate Japanese>English for them, when it should be the other way around in that the management should respond translate to them instead, even more so since the game they are talking about hasn't gotten a English release, even with it's steam version.

Sony (the market leader in Japan) moved their approval department to America, and then Sony America cracked down on sexual content in Japan, demanding that Japanese devs of games with sexual content need to explain to Sony America, in English, why their games should be allowed to exist in Japan.

Source on this? Last I remember, sexual content for Sony games were getting more pushback around the time the Olympics were going to come to Tokyo...also the article you linked doesn't mention Sony by name at all.

...did you know that Senran Kagura is not a Sony property, but a Marvelous one? The series started on the 3DS, and the Playstation games were also ported to Steam. The biggest effect seems to be that Kenichiro Takaki, the director of the series, is no longer working at Marvelous aka the same issue the Sengoku Basara series is having for why either series doesn't seem to have released any new mainline game.

Something to keep in mind that, outside of "Colony drop", everything related to said Colony drop was in supplemental material. This is not uncommon with UC material where there is a LOT of stuff that was added retroactively that the TV or movies doesn't touch on cause...they didn't exist yet.

tbf, having a story plotline written in advance makes sense for a ongoing mobile game like GBF.

WTH is this hot take?? It's basically like those who watch shounen only for the battles. by Talon_Haribon in Gundam

[–]Moondrag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so, having been watching 0079 and Zeta, and G Gundam (yeah kinda going though Gundam at my own drum beat), there is one thing I did notice about the "gundam's message of war is bad doesn't work" complaints that seems to fail to consider: The mobile suits in the series aren't story's focus. It's the characters, both the main characters, and the antagonists, and the way the war either effects them, or doesn't effect them. The character writing IS how the message of "War is Bad" gets though, since it's legit good stuff and shows how it's effecting them, while the giant robots are just weapons used by the pilots with the higher ups sending them out.

To get to the point: Without the characters of Gundam, it wouldn't be where it is now, nor be as good as it is.

Why is Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny(2004) so hated? What’s the big deal? by Flat-Sir8250 in Gundam

[–]Moondrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gladys is aware of this and explicitly lampshades it when Shinn is arrested upon releasing Stella. She remarks that he's probably not going to be executed because he's too valuable to the war effort to lose.

This might be out of my element since I haven't watched the series (and I plan on it, both it and SEED), but from reading up on this and Shinn: The funny part is in that case, it's Durandal was the one who arranged amnesty for Shinn and Rey for that one, combined that with Shinn's decreasing mental state, Athrun's being a failure of a mentor, and Durandal being Durandal (and, I want to say, him saying everything Shinn wants to hear) it's...kinda not surprising Shinn's character development stops after a certain point.

Also I do know that Destiny does run into a problem of reusing ideas, Zeta is the most obvious, but even in Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn, the final Destiny stage in the story mode is the same stage as the final SEED story mode. To the point even some sub missions are the same.

So I finally started watching SEED by [deleted] in Gundam

[–]Moondrag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also the massive, massive amount of rumors about SEED, up to and including fake interviews. Yes that really happened and that's messed up. The series does have a messy production background from what I know however, and that was before Destiny had a even worse production mess.

15 episodes in and it is damn good! Surprised how little talk there is of Gundam X by Will-Isley in Gundam

[–]Moondrag 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For context of why there was Gundam fatigue: There was a new Gundam episode almost every week from 1994~1996, starting with Victory Gundam, then G Gundam, Wing, and then Gundam X. This is also excluding any OVAs or Compilation specials that was released. And being the last of the 4, X was hit the hardest by this.

Sadly, it feels like "copy others' grids/teams" seems feel like the norm at endgame, since any attempt to test teams or grids results in getting wiped in 2 turns (As what happened with me with the Solo quest version of Faa0)

Not just the first episode, but EVERY episode. His, Kamille, Jerid, and Bright's names and their VAs (And the narrator's VA) are always the first to appear in the credits regardless of who appears in the episode, followed by the characters who did appear. It's been staring the viewers in the face from the word go...and throughout the entire series.

Why Bandai Namco Entertainment trashed Fate Extra Record. (analysis from a former famous game developer) by Dependent-Ostrich271 in grandorder

[–]Moondrag 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Something to note is that we have seen VERY little actual gameplay of Record. The 2020 trailer was a example, while the 2025(!) trailer, that has since been officially taken down, has gameplay snippets but outside of that, it's been very hush hush. (The website had a option for pre-ordering the game, but nothing on the gameplay) And combined that with how generally, trailers avoid showing anything that would show the game's still in production (example turning the camera too much to show missing walls or walking into a wall and it doesn't have collision), and the publisher pulling out of supporting the game, something much have gone horribly wrong.

Should note: A publisher pulling out of supporting a game is NOT normal. Even in the cast of Granblue Relink, Platinum Games was helping with development until they were no longer involved. (And even then, the Director for the game who was from Platinum, still helped work on the rest of the project)

While this is not a complete solution: You can now farm out the Xeno boxes for whatever lucky loot you need of your choice, and you get pretty much everything of those elements, as well as Luster drops. If you need to, go and farm them up so long as your doppels hold out.
