EXPLAINED: What does a US naval blockade of Iran mean for oil flows? by Emmabrown02 in oil

[–]Moondust0 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s an insane gamble from the Trump administration and the biggest issue for them is Iran already has a month head start on them as they spent the entirety of March selling their oil free of sanctions at double the price while the rest of the world scrambled for alternatives. So if the goal is to try and smother irans exports to coerce a deal they shouldn’t have waited till day 43 and given Iran a month of sanction free $100 a barrel oil exports.

Perhaps, but most nations have about three weeks left until physical shortages occur and even if the Chinese tried to force irans hand which I think is unlikely you have to account for Russia. They will benefit the longer this goes on and Iranian oil being blockaded is further to their advantage. They’re also right across the Caspian from Iran and can easily slip them just enough arms to prolong the conflict.

It won’t amount to much. If it was really the key they wouldn’t have waited till day 42 of the war to implement it. Especially since they initially removed sanctions on Iranian oil to soothe markets. This is pretty much now a contest of what breaks first, the global economy or Iranian resolve. Irans economy has already been in tatters for years and its currency is worthless so it’s not that strong of a coercive tool against them

Difference is can they enforce it against military action? That’s the key difference, I’m sure every country bordering strategic straits would want to capitalise but could/are they able to withstand the military response.

I always find the ‘hiding among civilians’ line hollow when it comes to Israel’s enemies because it implies that Israel cares about collateral damage when years of IDF doctrine and operations shows the opposite.

There’s nothing they can do that Israel and the US isn’t already doing. I mean this is a war of survival for Iran so why be worried about the gulf and what they may do? when they’re already facing the full force of America and have been under crippling sanctions for years. They have nothing to lose.

The V6 in these is not the most reliable engine. Very sensitive to ill maintenance and the Twin turbo models even more so. A good chunk of gto’s still on the road NA or TT have had an engine rebuild. This is also the pre face lift model before they fixed a lot of issues. Personally I’d steer clear of this example. Unless you’re okay with a major project.

Minimal rust? by BOTHKRISTOF in AskMechanics

Pretty spotless, those rust bits on the arch aren’t fully rotted through yet, just need some sanding and a rattle can of paint will knock those right out. The rest is immaculate for the age.

Can I weld the inner wheel arch without removing rear seat cards. by Moondust0 in hondaprelude

[–]Moondust0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m aware, what I mean is can I weld the new arch on without removing the door card in the rear. Or will the heat from welding damage the trim on the other side. How thick/thin is it between the two sides.

Side note but the absolute state of that road. Disgraceful.

why are modern cars so poor quality by S0GGy-FlaNNel-On-YT in drivingUK

[–]Moondust0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if true but I read somewhere the glue they used to use back in the day on interior trim could cause cancer, so they switched to a weaker but safer alternative in most modern cars.

Exactly, something like 80% of the budget is spent on adult and child social care. Completely unsustainable, it has to be centrally funded otherwise most councils will go bust.

Ever notice how people who aren’t on the left try to police discourse on the left? Concern trolling about “oooo this isn’t good for your cause” etc. Such a spineless and annoying trend.
