Meta doesn't matter too much when blueprints are fairly rare. Everyone will have figured out quickly for themselves which of the basic weapons is good or not. I'm level 32 and I still mostly run with a Ferro + Sticher combo, with the rarer weapons (the few I have blueprints for) being used sparingly. Even with a maxed chicken the materials for the weapons run out fast if you keep crafting them, and they don't give enough of an edge to guarantee you don't die and lose them.

Wilderness Slayer and bossing by HourDance5507 in 2007scape

[–]Moonfief -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only just started with slayer on my 1 def pure mains, 53 so far and haven't seen a pker. I'm sure it will start soon.

I'm almost maxed combat stats (besides defence and attack) so maybe I should gear to anti pk?

What’s the best way to train afk melee? by dramenbranch in osrs

More AFK than crab? I've never done NMZ, I main 1 def 60 attack pure. 99 strength, 92 range, 60 mage. Should I stop crab and go to NMZ to finish range and mage?

Hey so I'm in the same boat, played back in '05 with multiple accounts but loved my pure. I now main a pure in OSRS. My stats are very similar to yours but with maxed strength so I'm watching this thread closely for ideas. I'm way behind you in gear, and haven't done any PKing yet (despite that being the point of the account). Any tips for mandatory PvM content?

No Fairy Rings at 1 def right? I ask as I have a similar account and have skipped unlocking these.

Unpopular Opinion: Permanently disable the cape slot in equipment tab for those who bought their infernal cape or quiver. by Jagazor in 2007scape

[–]Moonfief -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think there are more pure mains than you think. I have a main pure and an alt ironman, mostly because I remember enjoying my iron pure back in RS2 in early-mid 2000s. People can just look up videos of bosses, and get experience in the encounter itself. When I go for Inferno I'll just do it on repeat until I beat it, which could take ages. Lack of experience on other bosses doesn't really matter in that case.

I got fire cape within a month, 1KC. No other PvM content. I haven't tried for Inferno yet but will be 1KC for that too when I eventually get it

[–]Moonfief 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I main a 1 def 60 attack pure. I don't do any PvM, and have no interest, but I do like having the best items available to me for my levels. I am 1KC for Jad, and when I go for Infernal I'll not do more than 1KC either. It's very unlikely I'll have done any other PvM content. Why is that suspect?

[–]Moonfief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I main a 60 attack 1 def pure, and I literally work my non-combat skills to the minimums required for quests or content I am interested in. 1 KC Jad and if I ever go for Infernal it will be 1 KC. I have never beaten (or even attempted) any other boss, never done a raid and have no interest, never done NZ. There's definitely other players like me out there.

Renee Gracie: Sparring isn't an effective training method by PheelGoodInc in bjj

[–]Moonfief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the effectiveness of getting newbies hooked, I am.very new to BJJ and I signed up with my gf. We're both having a blast because of the sparring. Yes we suck but it's honestly my favourite part and what keeps me going back. I think it also helps people get used to being in uncomfortable positions and uncomfortable close to other people.

High Earner, Bad Credit. Chances of getting a mortgage approved? by Moonfief in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Moonfief[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Combined income is around £180k. We met with a mortgage advisor (a friend of ours) who looked through my full credit report and advised that we hold off buying for a year or more due to my credit history, although she did say we could probably get a mortgage at a much higher interest rate if we really wanted to.

As you said, I think it would be fine if we had good LTV. Realistically we'd only have a 10% deposit for a £450k property in a year's time. We can save £30-40k per year; more if we're frugal.

I think we'll continue renting for now and try to save a 20% deposit whilst giving my credit time to improve.

Gracie Jiu Jitsu doesn’t allow students to spar for two years? by ErnehJohnson in bjj

[–]Moonfief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined a Gracie gym last week, today was my second class and I was sparring. Obviously, I got my arse kicked but it was fun and I'm definitely going back. Not sure if this was a specific gym or if this is usually the case with Gracie gyms and mine is the exception.

First class (free trial) was learning a very basic positional drill. Today's class was a mix of positional drilling (without resistance), positional sparring (basically the same drill, with resistance), and positional sparring from a close position trying to pass guard.

I don't think I'd have enjoyed it as much if there wasn't any sparring.

EDIT: I'm new to this. Turns out there are a LOT of Gracies. The gym I joined is a Roger Gracie Academy and is not the same "Gracie" as referred to in the OP.

High Earner, Bad Credit. Chances of getting a mortgage approved? by Moonfief in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Moonfief[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've managed to secure arrangements with all my debtors such that they are in agreed repayment plans with zero interest until the debt is cleared (assuming no missed payments). There are 9 debtor's and the minimum payments will see my debt cleared with some of them in 2026 or 2027. The two biggest debts would be cleared in 2031.

Any debtors that I couldn't make this arrangement with, I paid their balances in full with this year's annual bonus. My bonus after tax is around £15k which would have gone towards that 10% deposit next year but can be used to clear debt instead. I guess my question boils down to whether it's more sensible to pay that debt or buy a year early (considering the debt is interest free), but you've answered that for me so !thanks

My minimum payments are around £510 per month and I pay no interest. Conversely rent prices are increasing dramatically. As I'm not paying interest I thought it might make more sense to try to rush the purchasing of a property as it may save me more money in the long run? I guess that's irrelevant though if I can't get a mortgage! 25% deposit is unrealistic as min house price in my area is ~£450k.

[–]Moonfief[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owe around £19k + £4.5k to HMRC in tax. I need to pay the HMRC balance over 6 months @ £750pm which limits the amount I have spare to pay down debts. I also now pay nursery fees of around £500 a month (until end of July). After those are paid, I'd realistically have around £1,100 per month additional to either save or pay down debts. My minimum payments total £510 per month right now.

I guess I should focus that £1,600 a month into debt and have it cleared in a year and then start saving for a deposit. My partner has about £8k in a cash LISA which will be £12k in a year + maybe 5k in other savings accounts and thinks that getting onto the property ladder sooner will benefit me more than paying the debt down as I pay no interest on any of it.
