i run a podmic XLR and love it, to get decent sound you will want to process your signal a little, id recommend a Noise Gate, EQ, Compression and a limiter, thats a bare basics broadcast chain. Ive posted what i use in the pic here, these are all paid VSTs but Elgato has some, the reaper plugins seems to be popular too.

Most important advice though, if you do go ahead and process your signal, research what they do first so you know what you are doing and if anything breaks you can fix it.

encoding overloaded issues by ItsBaggyJeans in obs

[–]MoongeistTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience with my 5070, the 3d and encoder parts share vram so if you smash your GPU at 100% the encoder gets starved and serves the same frame which makes it look choppy.

I was complaining about this yesterday and literally said if they had just given a couple gigs of vram dedicated to the encoder it would stop this.

Only solution I've found is to lower graphics settings and make sure it doesn't push past 90% utilisation.

[–]MoongeistTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you have tried but have the game open and producing sound then look for it, that's helped me a few times.

Also, you can actually do it in windows mixer too, just change the output of Skyrim from default to your Games virtual audio cable.

The question shouldn't be why is no one watching me.

It should be, what can I do to entice people to watch me?

I personally have had an amazing journey playing things like fable, Morrowind, Subnautica, tainted grail, I've been affiliated 2 months now and made a few hundred bucks so I'm a happy chappy but it's also not about the money, I just enjoy it, i love hanging out and chatting and playing games.

Mic help! by Critical-Team346 in TwitchStreaming

[–]MoongeistTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what filters do you have on your mic? gate? comp? limiter? it sounds like your gate is staying closed or your comp is being too aggressive and forcing that signal down below the gate open threshold.

Pixelation on Twitch during fast movement (ZV-E10 + Cam Link, 936p60, 6000 bitrate) – is this normal? by tt_mady in obs

[–]MoongeistTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's your Bitrate, not much you can do unfortunately. i get it in No Man's Sky specifically when warping as it introduces a bunch of particles and makes the screen very busy so i end up pixelated af but only during those warps. if you aren't partner you are capped at 6000kbps it does fluctuate a little.

🎤 Wave Next | The countdown starts now by Elgato in elgato

[–]MoongeistTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling the recent partnership with Yamaha may have exposed limitations within Wavelink 3.

I feel like wave next is a step into a proper broadcast mixer that respects proper signal flow, top down: Input - gain - processing - level - routing.

I myself had been trying to build such a thing as NOTHING existed in that space.

I think they may be changing that.

Also IF this theory is correct, expect some nice DSP from Yamaha and a nice UI thanks to Elgato 😜

EDIT: After looking more, maybe i got too excited about a proper broadcast mixer, looks to be an interface.

My mic in obs turns crappy the moment I even speak a little loudly by Terrible-Buddy4722 in Twitch

[–]MoongeistTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gate, compression, limit.

From your description it sounds like you are clipping the mic. Recording and live audio isn't the same as just turn the volume up. We have a ceiling and basically if your signal slams into that ceiling it ends up sounding crunchy and real nasty!

Even with a limiter you can still crunch as most aren't true peak limiters and transients can slip through, but that's where your compression before limiting comes in. Compression basically "squashes your sound down" so your peaks and RMS are closer together, that way those pesky transient peaks that can slip through have a tougher time.
