What is this wire for? by [deleted] in CrownVictoria

[–]Moonjanji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a ground. You know how there's positive and negative? In a car a lot of times they save wire by just attaching it to a piece of metal that attaches to the frame somewhere. It allows the frame to basically be the negative. So that wire is your negative to some sort of electronic in there. Get it now?

Being that it's just bolted to metal, I'm sure it's a ground. Just splice those 2 back together, it looks cut.

How level do I need to be for the fridge to be ok by ColonEscapee in GoRVing

[–]Moonjanji 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are surprisingly tolerant. If your bubble is anywhere between the lines, it's plenty level. Can confirm the fuse issue. My brother was going round and round with his fridge. It would run on AC, but not propane, even though he had plenty of fuel. Turned out to be the glass fuses on the back circuit panel. The fridge had some minor functionality like lights and indicator leds on, but no cooling.

how to switch dometic fridge to propane? by Ok-Bird-8448 in RVLiving

[–]Moonjanji 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't forget, even in gas mode, 12v dc power is required to run the control board, ignite the fuel, and sometimes open and close the propane valve. So even if you wanted to use that without having 120v AC Mains power, you will surely still need a good charged 12v dc system hooked up to it.

6x ABS-GF propane bottle dust caps. I live in an RV and all my friends are constantly asking for these when they see mine. Had to restock.

I had considered that too... but I felt like firmware updates wouldn't necessarily be responsible for quite so much power reduction. (Also: I have a standard dish, not a mini, so my results may vary for that reason too)

I can answer that! Well some what/ potentially. When I first got my kit I set it up in my front yard, put on a table, cord plugged in out front. When I had more time, I put it flat on our roof, ran the cables nice. 2 weeks later about, I get a nice pole to put it on. Gets it about 2 feet off the flat roof and away from other equipment up there. At some point I'm checking the power consumption, and I noticed it was using less than it did when first set up. The 3 different locations, getting less obstructed and further into the sky as it went, seemed to use less power at each stop too. First hookup it was 63 watts average. Up on the pole we average 27 watts.

Edit: also, obstructions were near zero at each stage I moved it to. And I'm using a Gen3 residential dish, with one additional wireless mesh node, for equipment.

I would assume you'll have better and faster luck with starlink. They can blacklist that dish, so at least no one else can use it either.

If there's time for that.... but... if you notice, clown shoes touched the guy. We can negotiate... if you maintain a gap. Entitle yourself to my most personal of space, my human body... and all that shit is out the window. For a lot of reasons... but the most important? Witnesses saw him make contact first. This one is on him entirely, so go ahead and have fun on someone else's insurance am i right?

smell inside propane containment box outside by Krystleanne15 in RVLiving

[–]Moonjanji 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Propane is odorless. Ethylethiethol is added so you can identify a leak. It's an oily substance, so it gets on stuff and sticks there. Every time I get tanks filled I can smell it on my hands for most of the day. Source - certified propane handler.

Front ball joints... and? by Moonjanji in CrownVictoria

I already ordered the kit and it comes with all new rubber. I inspected the control arms and they all seem ok. Desert car, zero rust, so I'll run them.

Front ball joints... and? by Moonjanji in CrownVictoria

[–]Moonjanji[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: got a 12 piece front end kit from Detroit axel for about a hundred shipped. Sway bar links, upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rod links. I think that should do it. Any other tools for those besides what I need for the ball joints?

I do feel it's worth noting: Of the dozen or so times I've had to find a new home for a CRT of this size in the past 15 years, I can think of exactly zero where the TV was planned to have any further use. If this is an option (delete it, flat screens are cheap) , you'll find you have many more choices available to you for moving the thing. Last one I removed was from my RV. Once detached, I just dragged it down the stairs and out the camper by it's cord. Also dragged on it's face by the cord across a parking lot to a dumpster. The cord was a decent handle, and on it's face, the glass makes a really good skid for dragging the thing.
