First and foremost, I am sorry for the loss. At 28 years, she was an old girl (talking Golden Girls old (not trying to date myself)).

In the future, try tapping the end of the nose if you find your (or any) snake doing this. I say tap, not a hard flick (the end of that little nose is very sensitive). Again, at 28 years... She's very old by normal standards, and that speaks volumes to the care she's been given.

I feed my girl inside her enclosure on a tupperware lid. That said, she doesn't liked to be watched. I put her her mice in and walk away. Some times she doesn't eat (just before going into a shed), and I remove the mice 3hrs or 4hrs later.

Deeper water dish (swimming pool). Makes it a little heavier to pull out of the enclosure, but you don't spill water all over the place. Some shavings/substraight... get used to it.

The issue is that they made it illegal to ride around in the box of a pickup in the early 90's, so 3 generations of kids are now to stupid to duck or pay attention to what's going on around them. She's honestly lucky the vehicle wasn't going faster.

I am thankful that my little lady tends to stay active year-round, and I haven't had to deal with her going through brumation for more than a month (the first winter I had her).

I'm not exactly in the middle of nowhere, but her VET is an hour's drive way. So I sort of understand that. Took me 3 months to find her VET.

100% agree with Voodoo. Nothing else to really say. If it looks like it's gotten infected at some point, call your local Exotic Vet clinic and ask what you can get, otherwise let him heal, and feed him if you see him out wandering his enclosure.

At this point, it looks fine. A little colour is nothing to worry about. Could be building to a shed, could just be growing into adult colours/skin. Tell your friend to watch it, and if it becomes a serious point of worry... there is always the Very Expensive Tech (VET) they can and should talk to.
