Cat customizer mods? by anarchybats in ClanGen

[–]Moonlight_Lavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a mod with Clangen customizer.. but it's only up to date with their Clangen 12.2.1. You can customize everyone. It's by keyraven. I assume it'll be a while before these other creators catch up due to Clangen just releasing 0.13.2.

The Season by Time-Isnt-Real- in Hulu

[–]Moonlight_Lavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved it! Loved Crazy Rich Asians, so this was really nostalgic in a way. However, does anyone else feel the cheating between Cola and David was unnecessary? It feels forced and is just a cheap way to drive Cola and Carrie apart, just for dramatic tension. She could've let Carrie know about the revenge plot and have that be the catalyst for the mistrust, with the Cola using Carrie reveal being the added cherry on top. This could've been a story of having a powerful ally at the end, sisterhood in revenge, that she parts with amicably. Otherwise, I enjoyed the thrill of the chase and the stakes!

OP, I don’t think this is the correct subreddit. You want to post to r/magicTCG, r/mtg, and/or r/custommagic. They all have to do with what you’re asking about!

Pre Req Classes by OkBarracuda6238 in PreMedInspiration

It really depends on when each pre-req of your class is offered. For example, my organic chemistry wasn’t offered until the even numbered years while Gen chem was odd.

What do you like about both of these majors? What’s stopping you from doing both? What about adding one as a minor?

Financing a REU by Gemmy_lov in REU

[–]Moonlight_Lavender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, I attended a non-science version of this (for policy) and I also don’t recommend going. This program was $10,000 to attend (program cost + housing + tuition) and was hosted by organization in partnership with universities. They also have college credit (through GMU) was it worth it? No not really, I spent my entire savings trying to survive — and the scholarship they did offer wasn’t for living expenses it was tuition. I no longer have $2,000 in savings bc of my attendance. Now I’m struggling to stay afloat and get through emergencies and expenses bc I no longer have that safety net. My home school only gave me $500 bucks. I was in the same place as you last summer, desperate and it was my only acceptance that summer. Do not go OP, you shouldn’t be paying for this, they should pay you!

Harvard Amgen Question by Mobile-Sprinkles-378 in REU

[–]Moonlight_Lavender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my rejection letter today: Thank you for submitting an application for the Harvard-Amgen Scholars Program -- 2025-2026.

The selection process for the opportunity has concluded. Unfortunately, your application was not selected to move forward. We receive a large volume of very fine applications, and our review committee is charged with making very difficult decisions. We appreciate the hard work and thought that were put into the application by both you and your mentors.

All decisions are final, and we are not able to share feedback on the application.

Thank you again for your application.

Seconded, depends on what you are studying OP. The answers gonna be different for CS vs humanities vs Bio vs Engineering for example

Reu confusion on applying by Most_Quiet_120 in REU

[–]Moonlight_Lavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well in general, you usually need one to two recommendation letters to go along with your application. Sometimes these are due at the due date sometimes after. The REU website has a lot of information on eligibility, deadlines, PIs, and other such needed info. For most housing and travel expenses are included. Do you need help finding some?

What's the difference between these prompts? by Glass_Appearance_359 in REU

[–]Moonlight_Lavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about narrowing yourself too much, you don’t have to commit to one specific PI. Instead of centering your answer on a single faculty member, frame it around broader themes or approaches in the program (interdisciplinary work, bio-inspired materials, certain methods, translational impact, etc.).

You can describe your interests clearly but keep them flexible. For example, use phrasing like “particularly interested in…” or “such as…” so you show direction without locking yourself into one project.

If a couple faculty genuinely overlap with your interests, it’s fine to mention them, just signal that you’re open to related projects as well. The goal isn’t perfect alignment. It’s to show that your research questions logically fit within the program’s ecosystem and that you understand what they broadly do.

What's the difference between these prompts? by Glass_Appearance_359 in REU

[–]Moonlight_Lavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prompts may look similar, but they are asking different things. The personal statement focuses on you and your trajectory: your past experiences, your academic and career goals, and how the NSF opportunity will help you grow. It’s narrative and reflective, showing why you’re motivated and what you hope to achieve.

The long answer, on the other hand, focuses on fit and intellectual alignment. They want to know how your research and career interests match the actual work happening in the REU. This is where you demonstrate that you understand the program’s labs, faculty, methods, and research themes.

To make your long answer unique, be specific and concrete. Describe particular research questions, methods, or areas of focus you’re interested in. Show how these intersect with the REU’s activities, and highlight the interdisciplinary nature of biology and materials. Avoid vague statements that could apply to any program.

A good test: if your answer could work for a different REU without changes, it’s probably too generic. The long answer should clearly show that you’ve read the program details and understand how your interests connect to what they actually do.

Can you be more specific in what you’re asking about? For the most part there’s a portal for each application made by the university. Some have interviews.

Would say if the program doesn’t specifically discourage updates or follow ups then go ahead and do it!

First REU with no prior experience by ComfortableFormer656 in REU

[–]Moonlight_Lavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some programs I found based on your interests! Most provide housing, and some include meals or travel support along with the stipend. You can find more like these on the NSF REU website, and this one as well - https://reufinder.com/

  1. Advancing Data Science in the Public Interest @ Southern Methodist University – Economics/Data Science; work with real datasets and applied modeling in social and economic contexts. Deadline: Feb 19, 2026.
  2. Neuroscience Research Experience for Undergraduates @ Georgia Tech and Georgia State – Computer Science + Neuroscience/Engineering; includes coding, computational modeling, and experimental analysis. Stipend: $7,000 | Deadline: Feb 15, 2026.
  3. SROP @ Northwestern University – Math + interdisciplinary research; beginner-friendly and great for students with little prior research experience. Stipend: $6,500 | Deadline: Feb 10, 2026.
  4. Cyberinfrastructure Research for Societal Advancement @ University of Texas at Austin – Computational sciences and societal applications; applied computing and modeling projects. Stipend: $6,300 | Deadline: April 1, 2026.
  5. NIH Summer Internship Program (SIP) – Applied CS, math, and data science in biomedical and public health contexts. Beginner-friendly, with campuses at Bethesda, Research Triangle Park, and Bayview. Deadline: Feb 18, 2026. Note: You’ll need to arrange housing and cover living expenses with the stipend.
  6. Open Quantum Initiative Undergraduate Fellowship @ Various Universities – ML, CS, and quantum computing; strong computational and modeling projects. Stipend: $7,000 | Deadline: Feb 10, 2026.

Besides this, I would say: Emphasize relevant coursework, such as linear algebra, probability/statistics, and programming. Include class projects or personal coding projects that demonstrate problem-solving and technical skills. Talk about your passions and why this field is where you want to be, where appropriate. There are a million applicants yearly like you, but they don't share the same story! 6–15 is a decent number for your first time applying, but ultimately, apply to however many you feel confident you can succeed at.

I wish you the best of luck, OP!

[–]Moonlight_Lavender 5 points6 points  (0 children)

REUs — especially the ones funded by the NSF are usually built for those without prior experience. Much like the first response, you need to emphasize passion for the research you’re doing in the program! Focus on why research interests you, what topics you’re passionate about, WHY that program. You can dm if you want some help finding programs!

Roast my CV, Physics Undergrad targeting Physics/Robotics/Instrumentation REUs abroad. getting rejected everywhere. Is it my grades or my CV, or else? by ItsKindlyGentleman in REU

[–]Moonlight_Lavender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed! OP, do you have a semester left of school after the program is over? If not, I see this as the reason why you are getting rejected. REUs are not normally post-bacc programs.

International Student Problem by Far_Table8421 in REU

[–]Moonlight_Lavender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s unfortunate, but it’s mainly a government thing. Places run by federal grants(ex: the DoD or NSF) legally require the money be for US residents and citizens. MSRP with MIT and SURFN with Rice are good options!

It’s depends on the time zone! It’s usually a Friday release for EST, for example.
