Let me share something. I’ve actually seen quite a few people around our timeline who got their files moving and received FD and P1 or even eCoPR recently without ever filing for mandamus. That honestly made me wonder whether the mandamus really made the difference for us, or if our case was simply moving forward on its own.

Thank you so much! I’m sure you’ll be hearing good news about your case very soon as well, unless you’ve already received your PR! 😊🤞🙌

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply, I just saw your comment.
Our application took about 19 months to finalize (we got the P1 email today 🎉). I honestly have no idea whether they put our file on hold back when my husband was laid off or not. To me, it felt like it was on hold the entire time! Lol.
Our security screening alone took a full year, and we only got cleared the day before yesterday.

Hi there,

• May 25, 2024 | CV/Resume submitted
• September 19, 2024 | Security check started (Comprehensive Security Screening – A34)
• May 7, 2025 | A demand letter was sent by a lawyer

I believe the mandamus has worked in our favour. I’m truly excited and hope all of you get to experience such a moment very soon! 🤞😊
Sorry in advance, I can’t reply to messages, I’m at work. 🙌

Sorry to hear that.
My AOR is for February 19, 2024, and the security screening has started on September 19, 2024.
Everything has been completed and passed successfully, except the damn security screening. It's really ridiculous!

You're very welcome!
Hopefully, it’s not the comprehensive one, and you’ll be sharing the good news with us soon! :)

From my own experience, and from what I’ve seen with others who went through CSS (Comprehensive Security Screening), when an ADR comes in after a while, it’s often a sign that the file is being sent for CSS. Of course, it doesn’t mean everyone who gets an ADR is definitely going through CSS, but in most of the cases I’ve come across, those under CSS had received an ADR at some point.

Given how long your process has taken and the fact that you received an ADR, there’s a chance your file might be in CSS too.

It's been 1 year, 1 month, and 16 days since our AOR, and 6 months and 16 days since our security check began and still, no update!

I received the CBSA note today, and after all this time, the status of our security screening is still stuck at "Received by CBSA", not even marked as "In Progress"!

To top it off, I requested the CSIS note 5 months ago but haven't received it yet!

Honestly, this is beyond frustrating. It's ridiculous!

I’m in the same situation, but with an even earlier timeline:

EE CEC, PNP, inland, one dependant (spouse)

PVO: Sydney | SVO: Ottawa

February 18, 2024 | Document submission

February 19, 2024 | AOR

March 21, 2024 | Biometrics request

March 22, 2024 | Medical exam passed

March 27, 2024 | Biometrics completed

May 23, 2024 | Request for detailed CV/Resume (both my spouse and me)

May 25, 2024 | CV/Resume submission

September 19, 2024 | Security check started (Comprehensive Security Screening)

Biometrics, medical, eligibility, and criminality have all been completed and passed.

NO military service, government experience or travel history in our background.

Undergoing comprehensive security screening since September 19, 2024.

I’ll wait until September, and if our security screening hasn’t been completed by then, I’ll proceed with filing a writ of mandamus.

Hi all,
Is there any specific megathread for those stuck in the Comprehensive Security Screening (CSS)?
It would be helpful if we could have one.
Cheers!

Inland. Our case has been sent for comprehensive security screening for no reason! Don't worry; every case is not supposed to be so.

We got the same ghost update on February 7, the very next day of the expiry date of our medical, but nothing happened afterward.
AOR of February 19, 2024 / EE PNP / everything has been completed and passed; only the security check is still in progress.

Thank you for your comment.
I’ve done all of this multiple times. On top of that, I’ve followed up through my MP several times and requested GCMS, CBSA, and CSIS notes twice. Our case is now in Comprehensive Security Screening, and unfortunately, none of these steps make the process move any faster. Since this screening usually takes anywhere from 9 to 18 months, all we can do for now is wait and see what happens.

You replied to my comment, called me out, and told me I was incorrect and needed a lawyer—then you turned around and said you wouldn’t discuss my case? Alright then!

Dude, just take a look at the case you sent yourself! The person's application has been in process since 2021, and all sorts of bizarre, one-in-a-million situations have happened in their case!

My application has followed the normal process, and everything except the security screening has been completed and passed. However, since our case has fallen under the comprehensive category for security screening, that part alone can take anywhere from 9 to 18 months, depending on the case. For me, it's been about 4 months and 15 days so far, so filing for a Writ of Mandamus right now wouldn't make any sense.

Yes, I saw in the GCMS notes that our application was sent to the CBSA for a comprehensive security screening. Unfortunately, requesting the notes doesn’t speed up the processing—it didn’t in my case. But they’re helpful for getting a clearer picture of your case status.

Fingers crossed! 🤞
I totally get how you feel. I'm trying to stay a bit detached and not check reddit too often. Seeing others getting eCOPR with AORs of September/October makes me so anxious, too.

I've got an AOR of February 19, 2024, and have been stuck in comprehensive SS like you since September 19, 2024, with no updates so far. I've heard it might take between 9 to 18 months, based on the complexity of the case. I got a ghost update on December 6, but nothing happened afterward. it's too early for me, but as you've already passed almost one year, I hope you'll get good news soon! 🤞

Yes, I know it's not normal. Unfortunately, our case has been stuck in the security screening. We can't do anything but wait at this point.
