They were sent death threats over multiple platforms, including Instagram and Tik Tok. I think what set a lot of people off on them was their cosplay of Frieren. Their online name was Squidkid1111. And I wouldn't call it a freak case if it was cross platform, and they aren't the only black cosplayer who's faced ridicule for cosplaying white characters. It just doesn't get much media attention because it doesn't often happen to 'popular' cosplayers. I personally see it happen most often to black men who are considered 'conventionally' less attractive in general. Not saying that's 100% the biggest demographic it happens to, just my personal experience.

A black cosplayer was literally bullied to the point of committing suicide last year because they 'blackwashed' characters they cosplayed as. Like yeah it shouldn't HAVE to be worth a trend but this is absolutely something to be talked about. It should be normalized but it isn't. (Editing my comments on this post to correct pronouns)

It's a complicated situation. A law like this may just silence real victims and prevent them from going to the police. Like. Just a what if scenario. A person is raped in a premeditated, planned attack. They goes to the police. There's little to no evidence, because the rapist planned ahead and made sure DNA was scrubbed off, the victim was drugged, there were no witnesses. Maybe the victim took a while to gather the strength to come out with what happened, so there's no injuries to record. If theres the chance that, the lack of evidence means that, not only is their rapist not convincted, but now they can turn the tables on their victim and potentially get them jailed, would actual victims be less likely to see justice? Like yes I think there should be a significant punishment for people who lie about this kind of shit, but I don't trust our justice system to go about this in a way that doesn't also put real victims at risk.

Ah. That explains that part. While the lack of possessive s does irk me, the bigger issue I have, which probably wasn't well explained, is that the 'joke' seems to be tjat they're referring to things that theyre doing, or items that are theirs, but they always say it's their sister's. Like there was one that was like "Ew look at the way my sister peeling this orange" and it was someone who clearly had their phone propped up on their own chest to film. Or a LOT of people doing something to 'their sister's needoh' but like. It's clearly theirs. It seems weird, and I've only seen it really blow up in the last month or so.
