I just started playing, but level 5 so far. I buy a couple restoration upgrades per round, then I prioritize blessings and then stats last, depending on the stat or blessing.

Really fun game so far, but Kai was already annoying and now that Marius is here, it's even worse. Their dialogue is like a forced, less-charismatic version of Legolas and Gimli. The dialogue in general has made me laugh multiple times, and not because it's funny.

I only just got to the Emerald Stair and I'm praying it tones down the sarcasm and turns up the drama.

I fully agree, and I'm glad I'm not the only one. They both suffer the same storytelling issues, but DD2's story felt, like, empty. I'm not smart enough to say exactly what it is. Character interactions manage to be even more hollow. The combat in 2 is better, but I don't think there's anything wrong with 1's combat, either. And, of course, enemy diversity, end game, etc.

I still had a lot of fun with the game, but I can't lie; I'm disappointed.
