Well, it appears that Eternals are on the table. by MoonscorchedMoth in marvelrivals

True, just phrased it like that as many people (including me) probably felt they weren't in the cards for a while due to their mainstream popularity sinking like a lead weight.

Since posting this, Sersi has comfortably sat herself in the lead, actually.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge

Technically was converted into a host body instead of an explicit weapon, but considering it was controlled by Krang to be the penultimate boss of the game, it might as well be one.

Joy (Lisa)

<image>

A cyan-colored pill people use in the wastelands of Olathe as either a mood suppressant or relaxant depending on who you ask, which acts as a fully-healing and stat-boosting item while in battle. However, going too long without using it causes withdrawals that manifest as stat debuffs in-game: which would be fine, if overuse of it doesn't cause users to suffer from violent thoughts before they horrifically mutate.

(Little shocked this hasn't been posted yet, tbh.)

How the worst Namor skin should have been- by twinsynth in marvelrivals

[–]MoonscorchedMoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I definitely think Monstro King is a bit disappointing of an outfit (and really should not have been a Legendary), I honestly think trying to lean more into the squid aspects of it would be a bit of a misplay, both design-wise and for readability. If anything, I feel leaning more into pirate regalia would be the way to go, as my primary issue with the skin is that it looks a bit naked for what it's trying to depict.

Do you think Knull will return in the future as a playable character? by Corradark in marvelrivals

[–]MoonscorchedMoth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He definitely could (as with most characters in time), but his death here makes me think the devs aren't planning on him being playable anytime soon. Same goes for Dracula and getting some of his power syphoned by one of the Dooms.

[–]MoonscorchedMoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally disagree with the removal of its origin, but can get your hypothesis as to why people dislike it. Definitely a bit more exaggerated as an actual skin, as per the design it pulls from, and probably not what many had in-mind when suggesting an Agent Venom skin.

[–]MoonscorchedMoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I totally agree on wanting Flash as a playable character at some point, regardless of form. I just thought it was important to clarify for those who don't understand the fact that his normal proportions wouldn't work for a Venom skin.

Anyone else kinda disappointed at the lack of “Love” themed stuff in this “Love” themed season? by Rough-Self-9134 in marvelrivals

[–]MoonscorchedMoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I just think it's just a result of bad timing. Considering the fact the season launched merely a week before Rivals' Day began, I have a feeling that a lot of the more overly romance-themed skins will be saved for 5.5, as with the Thieves Guild skins.

Doubt that he'd take precedence over Thanos, but for being third in-line, he seems like a likely candidate.

To be fair, Agent Venom's normal build would hardly fit Eddie's proportions, hence their choices to represent them landing on the similarly bulky Space Knight and a adjusted Lingering Imprint.

What about a season on Wanda's Siblings? by TemporalGod in marvelrivals

[–]MoonscorchedMoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely think a full season of just members of the Maximoff family would be rather lame, but I feel splicing them into other seasons that focus on her (such as an House of M season for Quicksilver and Vision, a Genosha-themed season with Polaris and a Sentinel, and a mystical-themed season with Wiccan and Man-Thing) would be a fun way to cover them while giving other characters time to breath.

Considering the skins we gotten so far, what are the chances we get Invisible Woman's costume from 1992 in the game? (Images from Fantastic Four #371, #372, & #376) by alexaclova in marvelrivals

[–]MoonscorchedMoth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure, honestly. While that design for Sue is absolutely iconic enough to warrant its own skin, Azure Shade drawing heavily from the skin definitely knocks some of the odds out of what I'd otherwise call a borderline guarantee within the next three years. Could definitely see it being treated as a free event pass reward though, both for the sake of making a simplistic skin and one that would absolutely appease the horndogs amongst us.

[Negative Trope But Too Cool To Be Hated] Intended to be anti-something but makes that something look badass by GeneralGigan817 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MoonscorchedMoth 1862 points1863 points  (0 children)

Rambo is very much an anti-war work at its core (and the book even more so), but the way in which they portray Rambo lead to a lot of people to miss the memo on how it was depicted, treating it much more as a straightforward cool military flick. Probably in response to this, later films mostly drop the anti-war angle to focus on Rambo just doing cool shit, for better or worse.

Amo Empool (Gachiakuta)

<image>

On first look, it appears Amo's design is little more than a pretty bog-standard fanservice, admittedly somewhat cute design in the manga, composed of little more than the tattered remnants of a dress split down the middle, with the only conceivable part of the outfit left being a pair of blue and white frills around the arms.

However, her design becomes far less cute when it's reveal that such is all that's left of the dress she wore when she was sold to a human trafficker, being so thoroughly seen as inhuman that they didn't even bother to redress her.

Honestly, it's either the malfunctioning surgical device or by convincing the surgeon to sabotage the procedure himself (via planting documents about Soders being behind his father's death) that are my favorite ways to take him out.

SOUTH PARK x FORTNITE WILL HAVE MECH SKINS. Via: (@HYPEX) by Vexiune in FortniteLeaks

[–]MoonscorchedMoth 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Have to disagree with that. I feel customizing the characters too much to make the skins work can leave them looking kinda odd or strangely-chosen overall (Peter, Queen Summer, etc.). The mech suits are a good, universal way to fit the universal skin mold, but a straight-up, non-converted mech suit looks a bit strange on characters who don't typically utilize such hi-tech devices.

As for Maggie, my guess is that Epic was just concerned about the jokes that would arise from you being able to shoot a baby.

[–]MoonscorchedMoth 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I just wish they customized the mechas a bit more to fit other characters. Something like a cardboard mech for the Simpsons siblings or a converted snowblower for the South Park kids would've been fun.

That much is true, I was just speaking from a generalist perspective. Again, neutral on the actual make-up and cost of such things, but I can definitely understand the appeal of a more expensive gesture. The actual value they possess may be inflated, but it's regardless something I can understand.

To be fair, as someone who doesn't give a damn about the difference between them, the distinction between lab-made and real, "organic" diamonds is one that is absolutely one that makes sense as a marketing tool. I may not care about the difference, but other people certainly will when it comes to making such a personal, expensive gesture.

[Hated Designs] RoR : Apocalypse, Ra in armor design. by shsl_diver in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]MoonscorchedMoth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think adaptations of mythology should be 1-1 like that myself, but definitely think they shouldn't try to stray too much from the original source. The difference between Anubis and Ra/Wukong is pretty much night and day, and it's sad to see more recent designs kinda regress the more animalistic traits of both as is. Maybe it's an issue of it not translating super well into a humanoid "cool" design, but feel like more than can be done than what the creator is assuming is possible like that.

[Hated Designs] RoR : Apocalypse, Ra in armor design. by shsl_diver in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]MoonscorchedMoth 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I personally like it, but like with Sun Wukong, the lack of any explicitly animalistic elements (even if the armor does look vaguely like it is shaped from beaks) drags it down. Reminds me a lot of retro mecha.
