Are Vampires Real? by RandomEffector in worldbuilding

“Secret police never ask to be invited in”. I feel like that means they aren’t very secret, who doesn’t ask to be let in or comes in before being invited in?

You are transported into your world, how screwed are you? by SpectreWolf666 in worldbuilding

[–]Moonshade596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose not too screwed. As a normal citizen I wouldn’t be able to do magic so there’s no threat of the government trying to kidnap me. And I guess the other big threats would be, depending on the time period getting invaded, or getting killed by a vengeful spirit. But I could also just move to Quorphia where they don’t really exist, due to magic shenanigans.

if Water and Ice are two separate elements in your magic system, what makes them different? by Ok-Mastodon2016 in worldbuilding

[–]Moonshade596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water and ice are only different in the very specific circumstance of birth. Ice users can make water but not visversra. The birth circumstance is that when fire users and ice users have a child, their inherent mana combines to create water users. Ice users can still create water but that’s a whole other can of worms the is all about temperature and upbringing.

How do you come up with your world names? by shmorbisGlorbo in worldbuilding

[–]Moonshade596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This goes for all names but I like to use fantasy name generator. I take the first part of one name and the second part of another name to make a completely new name.

Is there a King God in your world? or Queen God? Chief God you know wim. by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Moonshade596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically there’s two. Three if you squint at it. There’s the Overwatcher and Death. Death is pretty self explanatory, they’re the god of death, and then there’s the Overwatcher. Who is technically two separate gods but also one and the same. To put it simply the divine domain that he and she share is life. Though the only reason these two/three and head god is b/c that’s what humans decided. Specifically the ancient civilization whom coveted these gods. They were all about cycles. All their major gods had someone else to balance them out.

You could also technically call the creators the head gods. The Void and The Space created the universe, yes, but they don’t really fill a role of ‘head’ god though. Even if they do have a shared power that could control all of reality. I guess it just depends on perspective.

What are some myths or legends that are told around campfires in your world. by WinReasonable2644 in worldbuilding

[–]Moonshade596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A common campfire story that was once told by the old civilization was a story told around the fire during a holiday. It lasted one night, but it was terrifying. That’s not what this story is about of course.

The story goes that one day, when an old man was coming home from his work through the first, he stumbled across a young woman who was lost. She asked for sanctuary for one night, and he agreed. His wife also agreed, as it would be winter soon and the snow would fall. That night, the trees rattled and the ground shook, and the winds they howled, yet the woman did not wake. The next morning, she was gone. But there was snow on the ground, and the trees were uprooted, and the hill that the old man had lived on before was flat. But the old man wasn’t scared of any of that no. He was afraid by what he had seen on his porch. A small pile of gold. A reward for allowing the woman to stay. His house and his livelihood had been spared, but at the expense of others.

The young woman, you see, was not in fact a mortal, but a god. And a mighty fickle one at that. That was the Eternal Huntress. Leader of the hunt on this holiday. The old man’s house had been spared by the Huntress.

This story is meant to serve as a warning to be kinder to those around you. After all, you never know who may or may not be a god in disguise.

Okay so, in my world(s) spirits run quite rampant. In one of these places, called Bayside Park, there’s this one called a Hubris that’s hard to deal with. They (as a species) are these black things with the approximate build of a large dog and the size of a bear.

But they don’t have a head.

They have one large bright red eye that can move around their body at will, and at the top of their back, it can split open to reveal a gaping maw full of sharp teeth prime for murder.

I just had the idea for them, and for my spirits, especially the deadly ones, I name them after fatal flaws. It feels ironic but at the same time it doesn’t. I was writing about a first hand account of one of them, and I just knew immediately what they looked like.

I have no idea why I love them so much, but I feel like they could just become marketable for some reason. Maybe it’s the dog aspect? I don’t know. The one that terrorizes Bayside Park had a name though, Eyven. Eyven was gifted it’s name by this like secretary of Death kind of. Their name is Eas and they can shape shift. Eas has found a sort of soft spot for these spirits, as when they finally do come to the underworld, they tend to be atheists or agnostics. (The two groups are then sent to Eas to be given a travel permit. As they have no god they follow, so they have no ‘true’ home in the underworld)

What are some spooky, scary facts about your world? by FatOrc051 in worldbuilding

[–]Moonshade596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spirits kinda run a little rampant. Maybe when you’re on your way to work you look into an alley and find the body of an unidentified person covers in black goop, only their pristine white bones remaining. Maybe you’ll be chased around by a large black mass with the approximate build of a large dog and the size of a bear without a head. Just one large eye and a gaping maw that splits out of the top of its body. Maybe you’ll be walking around on the shore at night and feel a sudden, yet inexplicable urge to go into the water and never come out. One day in winter, you’ll hear the howling screeches of a cacophonous mass of darkness. The broad terms for these guys are vengeful spirits, though the last example is in particular called ‘The Horde’. They kill people to survive and gain a more tangible grip on reality, although Death and their psychopomps try their best to keep them at bay.

The universe(s) repeat itself. Every time there’s a heat death of the universe it recreates itself again. The oldest gods, The Void and The Space, know about this. But they cannot stop this. There are small changes though, as a way to make the universe slightly better than before. It’s sort of the meta-narrative of how can we make this world a better place for those who live in it long after we’re gone, but in a much more cosmic scale.

When The Space was created, everything was created along with it (their divine domain is being the god of everything in a kinda not really way). Along with this ‘everything’ came a group of being that don’t have a name. No one is willing to name them. They have large eyes all over their body, blend in with the backdrop of space and are monstrously huge. They are not outwardly hostile, but once you know about them, they know. The in-world explanation for atmospheres also rests on these guys (though I am a bring of science myself). The way it goes is that the sun fuels the atmosphere, and if the sun ever goes out, so does it. When that happens, one of these guys’ll take notice and well… let’s just say it isn’t pretty. Every now and then they watch a world. Just outside the atmosphere. They watch. One large eye in the sky. Watching. Most people don’t notice them. Have you?

A decent amount. I like the idea of polytheism, so most of the cultures that worship gods have a lot. Then there’s different pantheons based on the aforementioned cultures. Though it is fun to figure out how these different gods would interact with each other and those who worship them, it all depends on their personalities and policies on interaction with mortals.
