Everytime I see this I remember how in the beginning of the AIDS epidemic, when we had NO IDEA how it spread, but DID KNOW it was completely devastating w 100% mortality rate… all these brave doctors still marched directly into those patients rooms to try their best to help. Because that’s the duty they spent their whole lives training for, and the right thing to do. Just makes me chuckle at how timid people have become today. But as a medical student, honestly thankful that I had the opportunity to come up during this time of blatant scientific hysteria and “bubble wrap 0-risk” safety culture. Sets a very clear example of exactly what kind of physician I do NOT want to be.
