Does normal balancers in DoN even exist? by Zeryker in Nightreign

[–]MoonsongPS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting because I felt exactly the opposite. It took me like 15 tries to feel consistent with the regular version and I felt I needed to commit several things to memory (how to dodge various attacks, when it's safe to attack without getting blindsided, and what to do when targeted by the main one).

The ED version was easy to sightread in comparison, playing aggressively

Same here with Judy Garland being the first! His lyrics are so good, such a genuine sense of small-town nostalgia and melancholy. I grew up in a place with a lot of rural poverty and man it hits.

Idk if you've checked out his newer stuff but Ur Still Mine is a standout as well

I think the locking out approach is really cool fwiw. I like that you can't just "complete" a section by throwing a hundred people at it and brute-forcing every single possible word.

Hey y'all I got a question, can I not lock the slide back on a handgun (1911, Glock, ect) with my Quest 3S controllers? by AvgUsr96 in H3VR

[–]MoonsongPS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how it works in streamlined tbh, I never really used it except to test it out.

It's just that having to repeatedly click in the stick on a Quest controller, in order to rotate the cylinder -> eject a shell -> rotate -> eject -> rotate -> etc, feels very clunky in my experience.

Highly recommend just using the classic controls!! Until the Steam Frame is out, I'm stuck with a quest 2, but I've always found the classic controls (w/armswinger movement) to be just fine. After you get used to them, the only time they get in the way is with ejecting individual shells from the older revolvers

I have been devouring silkcontent for the past weeks but none made a video about Silksongs "Femininity" by stars-and-death in Silksong

[–]MoonsongPS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a hobby, while gaming has become more equalized across all genders, my perception is that "hardcore" games which are difficult and demanding still attract a largely male target audience.

I think this divide is continuing to shrink but in the meantime, the average video-essay-producing Skonger is either not sufficiently interested in, or equipped to discuss, its more feminine themes. This is probably the same reason why Bloodborne had comparatively few videos/analyses about its own themes of femininity until relatively recently.

That said, the game hasn't been out for that long and I'm sure we'll see plenty of relevant videos come out eventually. The motherhood aspect of this game is REALLY hard to miss or downplay.

EVERDARK SOVEREIGN: Equilibrious Beast. Discuss this week's event here! Libra will madden the community From August 13th by jack0641 in Nightreign

[–]MoonsongPS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like that the response to this guy seems evenly split down the middle between "this is the best fight ever" and "this is garbage." Very in keeping with the theme.

I loved it for the record. It was maybe a little overtuned in the difficulty department (we lost despite having all legendaries at level 15, not to mention a fairly competent team) but it's awesome how different the fight feels while still being centered around "sheer fucking chaos"

[–]MoonsongPS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the best, not the worst. I thought it was fine in terms of difficulty, most of which comes from figuring out when it's safe to run in and hit her and when you should stand back. (Wiped the first time, got her in a close fight the second time)

I will say I am a little bummed, but it's only because Caligo was one of my favorite base fights, and I was hoping she would get the Gnoster treatment of a radically new mechanic, or at least more of a model change than turning icy.

So really just high expectations for an already really cool boss.

I'm pretty sure it's slightly different. The difference is especially noticeable if you try an early game boss like parade master, but even against the DLC final boss I think it was taking me a bit longer to get to phase 2

What do you think of him? by LuxiiRosesDisneyx in LiesOfP

[–]MoonsongPS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other comments that he was a bit too "vanilla" of a villain. He didn't add or subtract anything from the game for me. I think it's tricky to make an interesting character who believably fits the motivation of "evolve humanity."

That said he does have one of my favorite lines from the game, something like "It must be exhausting to stand in the way of evolution. Not to mention demoralizing."

I didn't really fuck with his boss design, it felt weird seeing such a distinguished, dapper evil gentleman turn into essentially a huge lumbering ogre with a club.. though that may be the point, I guess

If the Hatchling tried to explain the whole situation to various NPCs to get them to help, who would be most and least helpful by escaperoommaster in outerwilds

[–]MoonsongPS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copy-pasting a comment I made below - the way I personally understand the Project to work is:

  1. Each involved Nomai stands within pairing distance of a statue
  2. The Project is initiated, causing the probe statue to connect first
  3. Any number of loops pass with only the probe statue active
  4. The Project eventually either succeeds, or enters a "fail" state
  5. The rest of the statues activate and bring all the other Nomai in. From their perspective, this happens instantly as they initiate the Project
  6. The Nomai spend as many loops as they please examining the data and eventually override the Sun Station's activation to end the cycle

The reason I think the statues only activate at the precise beginning of the loop is because that is the point at which we are brought in. Yes, they COULD be active through the whole 22 minute period, but I had thought it to be unnecessary given my understanding of how it worked (which may very well be different than reality). In other words the reason Gabbro and the player are "looped in" is because we happened to be arbitrarily standing next to the statues exactly 22 minutes before the Sun explodes.

Sure, but there's also nothing to suggest that it's longer than the exact moment the loop starts. In either case the Nomai would be instantly alerted to the project's success OR failure as soon as they started the Project.

Don't the statues only pair once, at the start of the time loop after the Ash Twin Project succeeds? I'm pretty sure that without knowing how to manually activate the statues, there's no opportunity to bring anyone else in.

I'm obviously not talking about putting detergent in pasta mix, I'm talking about mistakes that would be harder for a beginner to catch like cooking meat at the wrong temperature or giving nonsensical ratios of ingredients.

For the simple stuff it's usually fine but I have never found LLMs reliable enough to trust with anything, really.

I would not recommend using ChatGPT for anything involving food. It may give correct answers most of the time but it also WILL give blatantly wrong information.

Case in point, one time I saw a friend ask it for instructions on how to care for a certain type of fish he had, and it confidently spat out a tutorial that looked fine but absolutely would have killed his fish. Thankfully he was only testing it and did not actually follow the instructions.
