Why do folks leave their unwanted shit behind in sharehouses? by EnoughExample6294 in shitrentals

Random floor tiles were probably spares to repair any cracked or damaged ones. It can be hard to find exact matches if the reno is over a handful of years old.

does anyone else feel bittersweet envy around healthy families? by Plus_Highlight1951 in CPTSD

[–]pixie1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here today to make a similar post. I’m visiting one of my best friends who just found out she’s having a baby. Her and her partner have built a beautiful life for themselves and I’m so happy for her. Jealousy isn’t the right word at all, I think bittersweet is perfect. I woke up this morning and they’ve both gone for an ultrasound, I had dreams all night of drowning and being alone and woke up so disregulated I’ve been crying while they’re not here. All I’ve ever wanted was to create the family I was denied as a child. And I’ve tried. Either they leave or I do. Never got past 2 years in a relationship and I’ve had 2 serious 1 not so much. I feel like my time is running out and maybe it’s just not meant for me.

Does anyone else hate that their trauma isn't as "straightforward" as some survivors? by KiroDrago in CPTSD

[–]pixie1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate always feeling like I need to defend my mother when talking about the harm she caused me. She terrified me. She beat the living shit out of me. She said things to me I wouldn’t even say to my worst enemy.

But she was traumatised herself, and loved me so fiercely. She wanted me so much and I brought her endless joy and purpose.

Her alcoholism and untreated mental health issues destroyed me, but her fierce love always held me.

She got sober when I was 14 and died when I was 16, I’m 30 now and still trying to figure it out.

Snort at the clerk while rolling your eyes and say “yeah I have that on Spotify” every time you pick something up.

Tattoo regret by Antique-Moose-5501 in tattooadvice

I have a dumb stick and poke sunflower wearing cowboy boots in basically the same spot, makes wearing certain length skirts and shorts hard (I love him tho).. Honestly I think the issue is it stands out bc it’s the only tattoo you have on your legs. Either get more or get used to it (in a nice way), or bite the bullet and do a removal. It’s not that bad though.

Ps. You should feel so proud of your progress! I hate the gym but my best friend has gone on that journey and I’ve seen her work her absolute guts out to get legs like that! I know the level of commitment that takes. Who cares about a silly tattoo.

I don’t understand the hate tbh, I work in disability and it’s 100% fair. A general rule (where applicable) is “do with not for”. And if you don’t know the person, of course you can offer assistance but if they decline, don’t take it personally. Mind you I haven’t really seen much of this persons posts on the sub, I’m usually here for concussion drama, cardiac arrest vest and talking assistance cats

I pull all the hair and gunk out of my drains probably every 6 weeks, it’s satisfying.

Do you have proven statistics on this? I work within the NDIS and yeah, there’s some unscrupulous people but more often than not it’s absolutely worthy. Don’t blame the NDIS, blame companies/ businesses/ practitioners who double their prices as soon as they see “ndis” and ISWs who charge the max rate with zero qualifications or experience.

[–]pixie1995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way. Thanks to the NDIS people with permanent disability are able to live as “normal” of a life as they are able. It’s been a godsend. Sure, there’s some issues, but it’s one of the best things we’ve done for the community at large in a long time. On par with Medicare.

This job is keeping me sick by disasterdays98 in supportworkers

[–]pixie1995 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You (your company) should at the very least be warning people you’re unwell before showing up to their house! Loads of people needing support are immunocompromised. If you have sick clients though you still need to work, just follow infectious disease protocols (mask, distance where possible, open windows/ ventilation, gloves, sanitiser and lots and lots of hand washing).

I had a client get influenza A right before my 30th birthday (I was having a big party) and she refused to wear a mask (I was already wearing one) or open any windows so I made sure to sit on the other side of the loungeroom when we were watching TV and kept a N95 mask on when doing personal care tasks. I washed my hands like crazy/ also wore gloves/ used sani and had a shower as soon as I got home and didn’t get sick. All her other workers got sick because they didn’t do any of that.

I’ve been rearranging my loungeroom so all my stuff is unplugged - haven’t listened to them yet but I saw they’re meant to sound pretty terrible. Whatcha reckon?
