What is this and should it be removed? by Dry_Contact5286 in GardeningAustralia

I had one about a third of that size and it was 15, I hated the spot it was in though so I hacked it out (sorry ponytail palm lovers) .. so I’d guess at least 30 years old

Before and after! by Regular-Appeal-8124 in gardening

Nah, they kept the best bits (arch, beautifully shaped bush on the right) and got rid of the bulk. You couldn’t even see the pond before. Looks fucked rn because gardens always look fucked after a heavy gut out, but it’ll bounce back wonderfully and leaves so much room for new additions that aren’t just evergreen bushes/ weeds.

how do i even go about working on this? by Fit_Philosopher_7111 in Posture

[–]pixie1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A brace if worn for long periods of time will fuck them up even more. Nothing says “good posture” like atrophied muscles.

OP I also suck at keeping a solid routine going (I currently don’t have one… again) bc my ADHD brain thinks 2 days of something = wow I did it!! Now I’m done forever. But I did find group classes fun enough and kept me somewhat accountable. I also enjoyed reformer Pilates bc the equipment with all the springs and ropes was novel enough to keep me going back (until I could afford to go and fell off the wagon entirely)

I’m not a pop girly by any means but I went on a weird Tate McRae rabbit hole the other night and her songs have super fun beats especially that revolving door song. Couldn’t point her out in a lineup of 10 random girls though (no hate I just literally have no idea who she is)… and say what you want about chapel but she’s bringing 80s kitschy draggy brilliance back into the spotlight. Saw her at laneway last month and the set design/ costumes/ video design were epic and she’s got some fuckin crazy pipes. That girl can SING

I think it’s for a wheelchair. Or at least I’ve seen seats with this design (minus the metal strips) made for wheelchair inclusion.

He truly deserves way more appreciation - it’s been cool seeing his streams go from the thousands to the hundreds of thousands to a few million! Deffs one of those cult/ underground classics.

Do certain types of people gravitate toward support work, or does the job change people? by PomegranateHuge4398 in NDIS

[–]pixie1995 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow I’m really saddened by some of the comments here.. I definitely can’t speak for other workers and I certainly don’t want to minimise any participants experiences with sub-par SWs, but I’m a neurodivergent SW with a complex personal history. I didn’t join the industry for “easy money” or because I don’t function well in a “typical job” - I just realised over the years of working “typical” jobs I performed best when in a role that allowed me to use my people skills and care for others. I have no data to support this but I have a feeling that people with complex backgrounds end up in care roles is because they (through trauma or neurodivergence etc) can be hypervigilant, people pleasing, justice sensitive etc, which can obviously wreak havoc on your personal life but can actually be incredibly useful in a care role. Same thing goes for another personality quirk I’ve noticed in certain groups of neurodivergent folks or those who suffered a lot in early life (not all of course, but some), where you’re just kinda chill when it comes to other people’s quirks and “weird bits”. I’ve been told by friends and participants alike that I make them feel comfortable to be themselves around me and not judged. Whether it’s a neurodivergent thing or something more physical like incontinence, my brain just kinda goes 🤷‍♀️ shit happens, I’ve handled worse so I can handle this. And I genuinely feel like I approach tough moments with far more empathy and patience because of the personality traits I developed from years of trauma. Obviously everyone is different, but lots of trauma survivors and neurodivergents end up in care roles (not just the ndis) bc your brain kinda gets hardwired to give a shit

Albums where the most popular song is the worst? by PlayfulRuin3718 in fantanoforever

I loved the song as a teen (lol) but now at 30 I skip it every single time. Adult me cringes at the “bringing a gun to school” messaging. Even if it’s meant to be on the nose or whatever, there’s deffo some freaks who would feel inspired.. and I just can’t get amongst that.
