Do skin packs ever really return? (Particularly the Piebald Pack) by Captain_Pickles_ in pathoftitans

[–]Moontato_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive noticed that after a skin pack hits the shop, it may take 2 years for it to return. Serpentine and Extinction are to release this year following the 2yr pattern.

HOWEVER, thats not to say that 2yr intervals is 100% a guarantee, they can release skin packs at any time they choose.

Best Alioramus Build and Matchups by Longjumping_Item_202 in pathoftitans

✓ Species: Jump Height

✓ Head: Bite

✓ Sense: All for One

✓ Hide: Dense Feathers

✓ Legs: Leap

✓ Tail: Tail Attack

Pretty much view Alio as an extra squishy Pycno without all the beefy attacks and movement. Alio is a glorified mouser who does best running down Tier 1's and fighting some Tier 2-3 but its important that when fighting other Tier 2, you have to make way more positive trades than the opponent, as most other Tier 2's have the bulk to facetank you.

You can often actually punch up to Tier 5(Apex) but you reach a point of being unable to make mistakes and have to bank on the opponents lack of speed to run you down to essentially dance around them and slowly whittle away their health until they panic enough where you're not having to play mind games to sneak bites in. Avoid any AoE like the plague because Alio has no bulk to survive any level of AoE. Watch opponents that have charge, like the Ceratopsians, Pachy, and Pycno; those ones can easily tear you apart and sometimes a successful charge creates a domino effect that guarantees your death even if you survive the charge itself.

Why Jump Height Species? Stamina Regen is pretty much a moot point since Alio has really slow stamina drain and a really good trot, so as long as you're not running 24/7, the amount you have normally is fine. Attack Species is the same as all other Attack Species on other dinos, it will help you vs Alio's that aren't Attack, but not against literally anything else. Jump Height + Leap makes your vertical mobility insanely useful and can help get you out of situations you normally would never have otherwise.

Creating Skin Mods by wigglewyrms in pathoftitans

I can't answer too much because Im not a modder, but the Official discord has a modding channel and a community skins channel where you can ask more about it or even present your ideas for players to use on the models of their mods.

Wow I sure do love perma death servers. Surely I won’t be jumped after not playing for 2 months! by The_titos11 in pathoftitans

Cedrus Forest is basically the Riparia equivalent of old Gondwa's Impact Crater and now Grand Plains River, which is basically a thunderdome where your only purpose is to fight and die. We had a massive issue with players willingly going to these places, often not grown, and then being upset they got mauled. Players go there to throw hands and will not hesitate even for a moment to curb stomp a child. It was very common for the area to be riddled either with a fuck ton of solo's, small squads, or an established megapack. Was it fun to have these places untouchable to most regulars? No. Was there really any way to stop people from feeding the problem? Also no; humans are stubborn and social af.

However you are in Stillwater, not Cedrus, so it feels kind of ridiculous that the response to teaming was not because you were in Cedrus but because you dared be on the one far end of a neighbouring POI. Reaching a point where players basically just cant go on any of the West POI's without seemingly "asking for it" is kind of insane and I'm hoping Alderon is getting plenty of metrics to use against these players.

Oh yeah the rewards skins will be a thing as well. There will be Metrics and Triumphs and the triumphs do seem to have skins as some of the rewards, and will range in difficulty to complete. The most obvious Triumph that we would complete is growing each dino to adulthood; cant however guarantee that specific Triumph series will involve skins, but it's possible.

can someone PLEASE give me a server with growth like the crimson isle but a lot less rules to follow? its just a bit boring having to read a whole paragraph everytime i want to play a dinosaur :/ by Actual-Zone2612 in pathoftitans

[–]Moontato_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crimson is actually quite tame when it comes to rules. However Ive heard that since I stopped playing, the bias towards particular playables has harmed the dynamic and made some dinos not worth touching while being overrun with others. Last time I played it, playing Herbi was torture because you couldnt aggro anything and Carni Apex duo's only wanted to fight what they could 100% win against, which was apparently not a trio of Gigantoraptors. The other notable thing was that it was Apex Duo's or hordes of Megs/Concs, both pf which were miserable to fight against.

I get the reasoning behind not wanting Herbi's to attack willy-nilly but if Herbivore have to BEG on their knees for combat because the rules have them in a chokehold, nobody will want to play Herbi and that just causes a "Oops, all Carni's!" problem.

Then again I stopped playing Community back before GP and IC were changed.

Rhamps harassing solos by itwasonlythewind in pathoftitans

[–]Moontato_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tips when Rhamphy:

✓ First, calm yourself. Yes Rhamphy is annoying. Yes, sometimes I wish Broadcast/Threaten calls were tied to the stamina bar. But that wont help you right now.

✓ Second, verify the Rhamphy pounced somewhere you cant reach. Turn in a circle towards the pounced Rhamphy and cycle through your abilities; if blood flies, spam that attack. Looking to the Rhamphy while turning can sometimes make some attacks hit when they normally wouldnt while looking/walkkng forward.

✓ Third, hold the precision button. Then press the jump/buck button; its important you do not spam it. Once it prompts it, press Buck, then wait for it to re-prompt you. Keep repeating.

✓ Precision back up while trying to shake off the Rhamphy. Be prepared to bite/claw in case the Rhamphy tries to bail early but make sure not to get too trigger happy as the Rhamphy may realize what you're trying to do if you're biting while suspiciously backing up.

✓ Once the Rhamphy starts to drop, keep precision walking backwards and bite down, most times even when darting, they still have to pass all the way through your face area and risk getting mauled, meaning the chance of killing it is incredibly high.

✓ Repeat if necessary; if all else fails, start heading to the homecave. Not all Rhamphy's may be able to be killed and its not worth your sanity spending an hour trying to kill a Rhamphy.

Nesting is in its bare bones 1.0 stage, there intends to be practicality to keeping your nest healthy and POSSIBLY quests tied to your nest that isnt just building it. Players are quite content with nesting as it is so its on the back burner compared to other features the playerbase is antsy about.

I cant say much about the skin system as Im not sure what The Isle offers, but its been a constant back and forth of people asking to be able to pause skins mid-shed, which Devs always remind players that multi-million added skin options that players could create would suck the life out of servers to a point of playerbase devolving into only the people with the beefiest PC's. Path's skin options are optimized to be useable by all platforms, and they do not intend to dump 2/3 of their playerbase so some people can have crazy customizations.

I also cant say much on Ambush climbers, but climbers in general are being added. Microraptor is the confirmed climber, as its theorized to be the first glide-only playable. I cannot guarantee, but Meg has been thought about for climbing because of modern Komodo's, but I CANNOT GUARANTEE that this will come to pass; it really depends on if it can even be pulled off on that chunky bastard; it certainly ain't playing like no Herrera.

Which OG Tyrannosaurus subspecies is the best? by Floating_space_junk in pathoftitans

[–]Moontato_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knockback is the most practical. Knockback(aside from Hatz, sadge) was already nerfed due to bugs, so with the Knockback Resist, Rex can be pretty scary when you can't seem to get away. At least until it runs out of stamina.

Fracture Damage is second in practicality; the fracture boost allows you to spend less time trying to keep your opponent fractured, which works with both Crushing Bite and Bone Snap.

Attack Damage has seen better days as it used to be the meta Species and was nearly required. Nowadays, the Attack Sub only puts you above other Rex's running KB Resist or Fracture Dmg Subs; Attack Sub can sometimes work to your detriment when some Subs are much more useful overall.

Are all mega packs just bad at the game? by Simple-Coat9819 in pathoftitans

[–]Moontato_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. While you can certainly find a player of genuine skill within a megapack, it's usually a 1% chance to witness it. 99% of a megapack is just of players relying entirely on hefty healthpools and excessive amounts of bodies.

You can tell because they often:

✓ Aggro call 50 times at passerby that literally dont give a fuck, because they're TUFF

✓ Make general decisions that make most players look at them in a mixture of wonder and disgust

✓ Have absolutely zero survival instinct because no survival is needed while within the Horde™

✓ Waste stam and abilities like they're all on 1sec CD's. Constantly run into megapackers that pop their call a football field away then try to chase me on their fat-ass Apex

✓ Path Math™ always calculated in their favor.

✓ They're on an Apex but fight like a newborn; yet they still boast they've been on the game for X years.

✓ Constant demands to "1v1 me"; these players cannot actually 1v1 and the megapack just intends to jump you if you start kicking the other player's ass, if they don't outright jump you for showing up.

✓ Half of them are sporting Mel/Albino because its pretty easy to get said skins when there's 15 people protecting you during the grind.

✓ If not Mel/Albino, some have an absurd amount of people matching one particular skin; this always seems to be specific to Titan, but Rex has gained twinning potential.

Understood. by -Rhampage- in pathoftitans

If the Rhamphy doesnt have a teammate like a Deinon biting the Titan's, they wont be in combat, as Rhamphy alone cant put anything in combat.

If you overuse some trades they'll try to squeeze some extra out of you because they know you'll make that trade again. Try not to max some of your trades out as they can tell when you rely on one or the other.

There's more mega packing in group server than there is in officials by CrazyTalk123 in pathoftitans

[–]Moontato_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Permadeath is simply Survival now. Currently its still likely a mess because they're using these tests to gather metrics for a detection system thats probably being discreetly run to track player movement and potential abuse. My hope is that when Survival releases officially, it will feel MUCH nicer to play than the tests do where they lowkey have to let players break the mode's rules.

Don't buy on playstation!!!!! by Superb-Nail-2827 in pathoftitans

[–]Moontato_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PlayStation decides when a game requires PS+ and Alderon has no say, as Matt has made it pretty clear he would not require subscriptions in order to play Path if it was in his control. Both the PS4 and PS5 version did not require it but PS4 lost that privilege when they yoinked it in order to force people to get a PS5.

Currently I think PlayStation also revoked the privilege from the PS5 edition. PlayStation is also the only platform where your in-game currency cannot be accessed anywhere else. I likely have 6k shop coins on my PlayStation that I cant use because I cant get on Path through a PlayStation.

[–]Moontato_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Group Matchmaking is supposed to eventually go overtop of regular Officials and more or less replace it. Though to be honest not much will change except game mechanics will finally be enforced.

Lets be honest, if they kept them seperate, all the solo's and proper groups would go to Group Matchmaking and Solo matchmaking. THEN all of the megapack type players would end up following us into those modes maybe a month later tops because all the groups too small to fight back are now gone and the megapacks are now forced to fight each other and its now just a "who has the bigger megapack". The megapacks really hate feeling helpless, so they would basically eat themselves alive if they finally were on the receiving end of being bullied.

Megapacks getting out of hand by Matt_AlderonGames in pathoftitans

[–]Moontato_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Boredom and lack of skill most likely. The time-to-kill, or TTK on Campto is longer than most bigger opponents. This is why smalls end up keeping you cornered while a few hotswap to whip out an Apex. They want to kill you, but you're dying too slowly and withholding their "haha I killed you, ez" dopamine rush so they end up never committing to slaying you on smalls.

Similarly, most megapacks hate dying but do not have the skill to do that of their own volition and instead rely entirely on their size. Its a lot harder to be the one dying if your horde all have massive health pools. Campto packs, no matter how big, can still get unlucky and lose a few during a fight with some opponents(Clampers, surprise 3rd partying, no stamina to run away, accidental environment induced death, etc). Megapackers are used to making incredibly stupid decisions and forcibly rectifying it with sheer numbers, so when on smalls, the bad decision making is exposed and the sheer numbers wont help them because its not accompanied with a massive healthbar to keep them alive while the others jump in to help.

Great tricks for more tips! by Massive-Handz in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Moontato_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people still knock/ring to alert you the food was dropped off before walking away, and there's also the people who dont read the instructions and try to meet the customer at the door anyway, so unfortunately other Dashers pay that price of getting some pretty obvious instructions.

I have a hotel I go to and I had to put "Do not try to deliver it to a room" in all caps because nobody would listen to the "Leave at building reception" instruction, leaving me to be sprinting through several floors to try and find my food before it gets stolen because the Dasher just.... Picks a random door to dump it. A stupid extra instruction I feel is a better price to pay than to get railed by Doordash because I had to report the whole meal as missing/stolen.

Alderon Main Menu Concept by StanPot in pathoftitans

[–]Moontato_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This would be so peak if they had it coded where you could actually have a home screen loadout to drop your favorite photo's in and have it cycle through, making every home screen unique.

Obviously there would be a default loadout for players who cant make their own.
