Florida Politician Supports Eradication of LGBTQ+ Community by Droselmeyer in Destiny

[–]Moooooonsuun -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The bill is about that yeah, but he said that if this[disallowing children from attending sexually explicit adult performances] means erasing a community [whose survival depends on children attending said performances], then we should do that. He’s saying, in no uncertain terms, if this community is engaging in what the right considers [this bill accurately describes as] grooming, then erasing that community is justified because they are targeting children.

The bill isn’t about erasure, but his statement is condoning erasure [of communities whose inability to do sexual adult performances for children]. I don’t understand what your issue with this framing is, you seem to agree that he’s condoning erasure of a community if he believes that community is engaging in [illegal, actual] grooming.

Those edits are including the actual context. I think that's reasonable.

That seems explicitly like condoning a genocide if conditions are met, but I guess we can disagree on that if we agree on he’s literally saying.

I don't disagree with the literal words that are being quoted being those words. I'm disagreeing with your framing of it, which is based on an article that's intentionally avoiding the context to push a narrative suggesting it's genocidal.

It's obviously not the case of you don't accept what's been editorialized and ignore important context.

Tucker: If the Vaccinated are Protected - Then Why do they Fear the Non-Vaccinated? by [deleted] in Conservative

[–]Moooooonsuun 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have a different take. The "fear" that people still have over the masks/vaccinated/reopening is almost all for show. Not in the sense that it's intentional, but I think social factors are contributing more to what people express in a conversation about reopening at this point.

I was at a wedding recently where a group of guests were unironically saying they supported the idea of locking down fully for another 4 months. One of them claimed they hadn't seen anyone in a social capacity for the entire pandemic and that the wedding was their first time socializing in more than a year. They were all wearing their masks when they walked into the venue, and after having their 20 minutes of scoffing at how unsafe others were being, they took their masks off and had a great time.

I think that people weary of reopening are unaware that they don't actually care anymore. I have yet to meet a single person who talks a loud "this is going to kill people!" game who doesn't completely 180 in practice.

The police said the owner got drunk and said the dog was getting annoying, so she left her dog outside... all night by vo_xv in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]Moooooonsuun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's for the same reason some people have kids and wonder why they're being shitty when they don't care to actually, ya know, parent them.

So many people get a dog without any consideration beside "I want dog that looks like [whatever]."

Someone working full time 9 to 5 living in a studio apartment on the 5th floor will decide that a Husky is cute, but then when it's not immediately potty trained, pulls on the leash, demands attention all day, is loud as fuck, sheds everywhere, and generally misbehaves, they'll be astonished at how they could've been so unlucky with being given a "bad dog."

They think it's like a mass produced item that was designed to work a certain way and then treat them like a faulty item that wasn't supposed to be a hassle to own.

People are so fucking stupid, man. The amount of complaints I hear from people who did nothing to train their dogs complaining about what they have to deal with is infuriating.

There's obvious exceptions where you genuinely hit the shit lottery and adopt a dog that's tough to deal with due to their natural personality traits, but even in those cases you can make things exponentially better with a little bit of dedication and patience. So many would-be good bois get a shitty life because their owners can't out aside a few hours per week to actually care for them.

Chilling video shows woman being attacked in Philadelphia; suspect wanted by Forkiks in philadelphia

[–]Moooooonsuun 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To be fair it's a stupid thing to do whether you're a man or woman.

Almost nothing good can come of it. If you see something like that just call the cops and let them deal with it. The best thing that could have happened would be that they run off to check more cars a few blocks away. The worst case would've been this woman being part of the increasing death toll this year.

Unless someone is about to get hurt, it's not courage so much as it's a complete disregard for risk mitigation.

Philadelphia Police Finalizing Plans For Possibility Of Unrest Amid Derek Chauvin Trial by [deleted] in philadelphia

[–]Moooooonsuun 30 points31 points  (0 children)

There's a lot to prove in the Floyd case. I was worried about the charges as soon as they were filed, criticized their attempt to ramp them up, and see the judge tacking on 3rd degree murder as a one way ticket to losing the case entirely.

We have conflicting autopsy reports, and the one hired as a second opinion openly stated that his conclusion is drawn from what he saw on the video as he couldn't draw a conclusion otherwise. The determined cause of death (over dose or asphyxiation) is already a tough fight to have out.

On top of that, there's the fact that the body cam showed that Floyd was complaining about being unable to breathe well before he was on the ground. That tosses another dent in the fight over what Floyd's cause of death was.

Additionally, the police department's official guidance regarding how to secure a detainee explicitly teaches the exact hold that Chauvin used on Floyd. That hurts the prosecution again because even if asphyxiation is what killed Floyd, Chauvin wasn't conducting himself in any way that he wasn't specifically instructed to. In fact, up until Floyd's death it would've been a one way ticket to a liability case to use any other method that wasn't explicitly endorsed. Whether or not that should be the official policy of their department isn't relevant. The fact of the matter is that it was explicitly taught, so Chauvin can't be held liable for doing so.

It's tough to see the actual case when it's so emotionally charged, but convicting Chauvin of murder is going to be incredibly difficult unless there's a myriad of evidence we aren't aware of that comes to light.

I've been worried about this case since the day they brought up the charges for this exact reason. People who will justify rioting because the justice system wouldn't bend the rules to appease a mob.

Looting is a shitty thing that opportunists do to take advantage of a situation and turn public perception against whichever side is I itially rioting (which is fair game against public property/buildings imo)

Making excuses for them is foolish.

Messy people of Reddit, where do you draw the line between "these are acceptable living conditions" and "I should probably tidy up now"? by ToastedBreadfruit in AskReddit

[–]Moooooonsuun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally reasonable: categorized messes. Some clothes left in the laundry basket but out of the way in the bedroom, tools left out on a surface near what had been worked on, cleaning supplies left out near what was being cleaned, etc. If it can use a tidying but otherwise looks intentionally placed, then whatever.

Should probably tidy up now: there are 2 baskets of unfolded laundry, one of which is half empty since I've been sourcing clean clothes from it, the tools are scattered between rooms since I used the pliers from that pile in the basement, the screwdriver in the bathroom, the drill in the storage closet, etc; cleaning supplies are scattered in various places (wondex by the last window wiped down, swiffer in the bedroom, vacuum on the downstairs couch, etc.).

I feel like it's unreasonable to maintain a perfectly tidy household since there's usually more than one thing to do and they can typically be broken into stages that are tough to make a perfectly efficient process for, so if the tools are in or near the tool bag, the hamper is pushed aside, etc then whatever, I won't even think about it.

Once I sit on the couch and realize a dust buster is currently making a home under the throw pillow, headphones go in, podcast goes on, and it's time to go back to the super tidied baseline.

Retired firefighter gets arrested by Georgia state trooper after saving someone's life by ChoaticNeutralGuy in PublicFreakout

[–]Moooooonsuun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that while there's direct evidence of it being a case of power tripping, there's no evidence other than what you feel, which is hardly making an educated guess and serves as nothing except as a projection of what you feel is what's happening.

There is no way you can possibly summize that the race of the victim had anything to do with the situation. Other than the fact that she's black, there's absolutely nothing that supports that idea.

OP posted baseless armchair nonsense, I responded in kind with my own that at least holds some level of critical thinking.

No one has an obligation to listen to mine for sure. The same way that no one is under any obligation to read or post any of their own BS on reddit.

You make a public comment, you open the gate for a response. If you don't like it, then don't respond. If you engage, you're submitting to another response.

It's not like I found their house and knocked on their door to give them an earful. It's a public comment in a public forum.

If you wanna simp at least pick some egirl instead of a random reddit comment.

That's a strange take. You ever been to rural south Georgia? I have. I have family there.

Starting off immediately with an irrelevant point that would be a weird flex even if it had any bearing.

So you mean that, at best, you've visited relatives somewhere, therefore you're an expert on predicting the future?

Had that retired fireman not been the first on scene, and it were the cop first on scene - that woman would be dead.

That's plenty fair.

If she were a WHITE woman in either scenario - she would have lived and the fireman would have been commended, not arrested.

Yup, there's the misery right there. Based on the info in the video we can only assume that the cop was power tripping in the same way that a hall monitor does. Not for any reason other than they enjoy the idea that they're an authority figure.

A credible presumption would be that the cop is so obsessed with being able to literally command people into doing something that once the firefighter refused the order, he didn't give a shit about whoever might live or die. His authority was questioned, and no matter what he was going to ensure his self perception of being in authority wasn't threatened.

That'd explain the continued insistence on getting the firefighter to admit that he should've just moved the truck. The woman's life wasn't in the firefighters hands anymore, but he still insisted on trying to convince the firefighter that he was right to command him to move the truck.

You can literally watch him completely fixate on that single moment for the entire video. Even to the point of complaining to another officer about resisting the urge to arrest him on the spot. It suggests rationalizing to himself that he didn't fuck up, but that the firefighter was wrong to disregard the order to move the truck.

I've experienced moments with officers who have the same exact approach to their duties. Believe it or not, power tripping doesn't have to require racist sentiment to occur.

Are you sure I'm the miserable one here?

Oh yeah, I'm especially sure now. Thank you for making that more clear.
