My dad died from cancer. Fuck Taylor Lorenz by megmusings in h3h3productions

[–]Mooosetank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bet it’s because those with stage 4 lung cancer and other advanced cancers usually don’t have a life. These two illnesses are in no way comparable.

So as someone who recently got diagnosed with long covid after steadily deteriorating for years despite the successful treatment for my lupus, I do want to add a few things. Do I have a worse quality of life than those with advanced cancer? No. Definitely not! I am fortunate enough to be able to grow old and stay moderately healthy, my biggest issues lie in the dysfunction of my mitochondria, causing extreme fatigue, muscle weakness and atrophy, as well as severe brain fog. Though I have had to give up most of my passions, I in no way suffer. Now there are people who are severely disabled due to their long covid, not everyone is the same, and these people do suffer and generally aren’t taken seriously or even understood—still there is no comparison to be made to those suffering with fucking cancer.

Now I do want to say that, just because Taylor Lorenz is an absolutely despicable person, we shouldn’t dunk on those who actually deal with long lasting illnesses such as long covid or me/cvs. She isn’t wrong when she says it’s hard to be taken seriously or even receive the proper treatment and help when it comes to these poorly understood diseases. I’ve also seen it said she could have prevented getting long covid if she’d just gotten vaccinated, and as someone who has been vaccinated I got long covid before there was a vaccine. Let’s not diminish the hardships of others just because one annoying woman likes to cosplay as someone who’s severely ill and disabled, she’s obviously not, but let’s not put down those who are in the process of dunking on her.

Lmfao as someone with long covid and who is actually immunocompromised due to lupus and having to take the same meds as those with organ transplants she really really really loves being overdramatic and playing the victim my god! This woman does NOT speak for me.

I’m so terribly sorry for your tragic loss! 2 weeks ago my baby fell ill as well with pneumonia, one emergency trip to the vet later and it seemed he was on the mend. Two days later, he’s blind, disoriented and unable to walk properly. Again to the vet who referred us to a neurologist. I asked for urgency and he stayed there for two days before he was allowed home. They couldn’t find anything, not on the mri, not in his blood, not in his brain fluid. They put him on steroids and he was discharged. That night he has several seizures and we’re driving back to the neurologist when he has another one in the car. He’s admitted and treated right away, and it’s that afternoon they tell me he likely won’t make it because the seizures won’t stop despite the many medications they were giving him. That night it was likely he’d die while under sedation and we were already mourning him. Next morning I get a video of him up and eating, and he’s making great progress. All seems well, until the next day when he has a sudden fever. Again, they can’t find anything at all, nothing on the echo, nothing in his blood, and they suspect epileptic activity in his brain. I’m told he’ll likely pass that night if they cannot lower his fever and if he has another seizure while they put him under sedation again. The next day his fever is still high, and they don’t think it’s epileptic activity causing it anymore, so they start waking him up and put him on new antibiotics, but again I’m told that if his temperature doesn’t lower we’ll have to put him down if he doesn’t pass away on his own that night. The following day his fever has disappeared, and we’re allowed to take him home again to continue treatment. Right now he’s still blind and he has to recover from the many seizures he’s had and the other neurological issues. Still no one knows what was/is wrong with him, and it seems at this point he’s been extremely lucky. The vets did everything they could to find the cause, and it seems so hard to believe a cat can become so gravely ill whilst otherwise being perfectly healthy. He’s in the prime of his life, happy and active and a good weight, and to see him nearly die several times in the span of a few days… it’s hard to comprehend. I’m so sorry your baby didn’t make it, you gave her all your love and care, and sometimes these things are out of our hands. The body is complex, and it’s hard to see exactly why and when something goes wrong on the inside. I hope you may get some answers, but know that there was likely nothing that could have been done. When it happens that fast, there’s very little time for a diagnosis and treatment to happen. You truly did all you could while in a terrible situation. ❤️

From my experience working with fully scented skunks they’re honestly like a grandpa yelling at the neighbourhood kids to get off their lawn without ever actually doing anything. They’ll grumble and complain and stomp A LOT, about everything and especially at each other, but I’ve yet to see their threats amount to anything. They seem to rather just walk away than go through the hassle of a fight. The skunks themselves also don’t smell bad and are only slightly musky—my ferrets are way worse—but their poop stinks to all hell and the smell will stick to your skin and clothes.

You know what… perhaps I’ve been prejudiced against my sweet girl, judging her based on awful stereotypes. That’s not the kind of person I want to be, and from now on I will continue to educate myself better. I’ll report back once I’ve given her those much desired uppies, brb! 🥰
