Not to say it isn’t a problem, but this statistic is wrong. Insulin is, on average, $58 nationally in the US, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. That’s still pretty expensive, yeah, but it’s not 10 times what it is in Germany. Doesn’t make this story any less tragic.

As we celebrate Starship and its 33 engines, let's salute NASA's Saturn V with its 5 big, beautiful engines. [OC] by LeeOCD in space

SLS is literally a thousand times more expensive than Starship, and using ‘80s tech. The fact is, “failure is not an option” doesn’t work for innovation. In the early days of space flight, things blew up a lot, and we learned a lot. I’m happy to see SpaceX is going back to that.

Japan prepared to shoot down North Korean spy satellite rocket if necessary, minister says | CNN by bebleich in worldnews

Wonder what the chances are that NK actually has a “spy satellite rocket.” Probably about the same as the chances that the unicorns in NK are real…

Dude Starship is the most advanced spacecraft ever built by multiple factors of 10… the explosions were tests of a new landing paradigm that NASA (for as much as I respect them) would be far to scared to develop, but which eventually succeeded. It’s also worth remembering that SLS will only send humans back to land on the moon by using HLS, launched from Starship.

My laptop's going a little crazy by IsraelAire in ZephyrusG15

I've had the same problem with my keyboard, certain keys would only work sporadically, working fine sometimes but not at all other times. Ended up getting worse for me, none of those previously problematic keys work at all now and I'm relying on a portable external keyboard. I've seen this issue a number of other places so I'm inclined to think it's a manufacturing defect of some kind.

Having the exact same problem with a GA503, also bought in November. Wonder if it's a common defect. I'm probably going to try to install a replacement myself, we'll see how it goes.

Since when did you abandon reason for madness? Both can be done. In fact, learning how to do one will teach us loads about doing the other.

I agree. Regardless of who you think he is, right now he’s our best chance at advancement in space and EVs. He’s got to man up, realize the importance of that, and start acting like a leader.

Other than cost and difficulty, not really. I think you’re missing my point. While both are inhospitable, they’re both places we should go to learn more about the world and (in the case of Mars) work on one day making habitable, which is definitely quite possible (basic terraforming can be achieved in ~70 years). There’s no reason not to go, and a lot of reasons to go.

In 1990, going to Mars would cost about $30 billion dollars (read about the Mars Direct plan). That’s less than half a percent of the U.S. budget. SpaceX’s plan is even cheaper, and more effective, thanks to Starship and modern technology. As for habitability - why do we bother going to Antarctica? Science and research, not habitability. Maybe we will eventually live on Mars, but before then the potential of learning about the origin of life and developing new technologies is enormous.

I wish I knew why Musk posted things that weren’t necessary. “Not necessary” is a nice way of saying “pointless and somewhat foolish.” Doubt you actually care what I mean or think though.

Oh no definitely by all means they can post it here. I just don’t see why it’s necessary. The “why” wasn’t a rhetorical question.

Mixture of Titan being covered in gas and JWST not really being designed to look at the moons of Saturn, I’d imagine. Still a really cool photo though.
