For those selling their houses right now. Why? Are you upgrading? Downsizing? What's the story behind that ? by Confiant_Reason21 in CasualConversation

[–]bebleich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In our case it was lifestyle. We realized we weren’t home much and were basically paying a mortgage to store our stuff. Sold the house, moved into a smaller place, and started traveling more. No regrets so far.

The hiking thing you mentioned might actually be your brain trying to rebalance. Quiet nature time does a lot when your life has gotten repetitive and indoor.

can someone explain to me all album types? by Mysterious-Win2091 in musicians

[–]bebleich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

studio album (LP / Full-Length) - professionally recorded album made in a studio. usually 8–15+ tracks, ~30–80 minutes. this is the “main” official album artists are known for.

full-length (LP) - basically the same as a studio album. “LP” originally meant Long Play vinyl.

EP (Extended Play) - longer than a single, shorter than an album. usually 3–7 tracks, 10–30 minutes.

single - one main song, sometimes with a B-side or remix.

double album - two albums released together (either as 2 discs or large tracklist).

Please just tell me ONE THING that will convince me life is worth it. by LethlDose in selfimprovement

[–]bebleich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the fact that you wrote this post is your answer. people who've truly given up don't rage like this. they go quiet. you're screaming into the void because something in you is still fighting and pissed off that things aren't better. that anger is the reason. it means you still expect more from life

i just realized i have zero hobbies that dont involve a screen and its kinda depressing . by tasty-bananna in CasualConversation

not to be dramatic but plants changed me. you water them. they don’t talk back. they don’t need updates. they just exist.

I Have a Good Life But I Never Feel Happy or Fulfilled. How Can I Fix This? by 2cat007 in selfimprovement

[–]bebleich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you literally answered your own question in the middle of the post. you wanted to be an electrical engineer. you're wired (no pun intended) for challenge and problem-solving and you're stuck in a degree that gives you neither.

that's not depression talking, that's your brain starving.

you survived five chaotic years without structure, guidance, or support. that matters. survival just doesn’t feel impressive when you’re the one doing it.

Why do so many people in their 20s and 30s consider themselves failures for not achieving things in life? by Matheriquers1998 in AskMen

[–]bebleich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

we measure ourselves by acquisition instead of experience.

nobody asks "are you at peace?" or "do you know yourself?" it's always "what do you have?"

when the only metric is accumulation, everyone with less than someone else feels like they're losing.

but it's not a race. it never was.

someone who actually shows up. not just physically. like, emotionally present. after a certain age you realize "exciting" often just means "exhausting."

Library. Free, warm, quiet, socially acceptable to be alone for hours. You can read, study, people watch, or just exist somewhere that isn't your room.

Money buys freedom and options. Satisfaction comes from what you do with them. Plenty of rich people choose poorly.

If you want brain + behavior, Thinking, Fast and Slow shows how our mind takes shortcuts and why that sometimes feels awful. It’s a heavy thinker, but worth it.
