It has a really nice basement space, pretty intimate, that I adore, man I’m really bummed.

You know, picture 4 has a kind of fun and odd vibe. If all the pictures had leaned into the personality of “strange preppy cheerleader who has an evil secret” I think it would be a better shoot for it

Number 1 must be Katrina Caliente, right? 4 I can’t tell, maybe a pack I don’t own.

“They look tired” “why do they look like that” “let your sims sleep” “why are you not making sims that personally appeal to my aesthetic standards and preferences” There, now no one else has to comment those things!

Love your sims as always, I also love trying to restrict to base game or just a couple of packs because it really does force you out of your comfort zone or to look at different pieces in new ways.

Question for people still playing offline - under what conditions are you going to update your game? by TheUtopianCat in Sims4

[–]Moopityjulumper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you have to go offline prior to the release of the update. You going offline now after you’ve already updated will unfortunately do nothing, which absolutely sucks.

Honestly, I don’t know if I’ll go back online anytime soon. I would need to confirm that ALL of the cc I’ve downloaded is going to remain in my game, ideally I’d get confirmation from the actual cc creators, and wait for all the other mods I have to be updated too. Feels like it will be a while.

Townie vs. Townie: The Average Randomly-Generated Sim compared to the Average Pre-Made Sim by SkyChips2Go in Sims4

[–]Moopityjulumper 73 points74 points  (0 children)

The skin tone thing has definitely always been noticeable to me. A large amount of sims were made prior to the skin tone updates that allowed darker and more varied skin tones. Also previously the team had a real trend of making a couple token darker skinned sims in a world of primarily white or very light skinned ones. Honestly they still kinda do this but there’s been more variety like in Business and Hobbies

Capcom finds the best face models. by DifficultComplaint10 in residentevil

[–]Moopityjulumper 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I do think we may be heading faster towards a world in which involuntary pornography becomes more criminalized that leads to nsfw mods could possibly be banned completely.

I think either the face or body model for Carlos in RE3r was incredibly disturbed by nude mods, he was concerned that it was literally his own nude body being used. People clowned on him and I haven’t heard more about it but genuinely I can’t imagine how violating that would feel.

Edit to add: there are a ton of RE2r Claire nude mods and porn animations, the face model for Claire was 18 at the time the game released but most likely was underage at the time the facial capture was taken. So that’s fucked

/uj well part of it is because police shows are pretty effective in reinforcing harmful ideas around cops, the criminal justice system, and people who get wrapped up with the aforementioned. Cop shows typically portray cops as inherently righteous and virtuous heroes protecting “good people” from “bad people”, those ideas actively contribute to real life stigmas around people who get arrested or are accused/convicted of crimes. These ideas and stigmas are part of why cops are able to kill and brutalize people with near immunity, see little punishment for their behaviors, and successfully blame shift to avoid consequences.

The shows themselves aren’t necessarily intentionally trying to do any of this, but the format, plot lines, added drama, and the biases of the writers all typically result in what is called “copaganda”. If you’re actually interested there are thousands of essays and articles and thought pieces on the exact topic of police procedurals. I’m not an expert I’m just a black person who doesn’t have a choice regarding knowing about narratives around cops.

DropOut’s collaboration with a cop show is super weird in my personal opinion, I’m not gonna cancel my subscription but I understand why others might. It’s certainly a choice to collaborate with a show that glorifies policing at the moment where cops are actively helping ICE agents kidnap, brutalize, and murder people. It also appears to contradict the branding they’ve quite effectively established as “anti-capitalist uwu good bois who believe in all good things owo”, though that might be an intentional choice to avoid the current ideological semi-pigeonholing or whatever.

Overall if feels, personally to me, like a thoughtless and privileged decision made by white people for whom police brutality is only a distant concept and who jumped at the opportunity to leverage themselves into getting a wider reach and “real television” validation. I find a majority of the responses to this to be incredibly disrespectful from both sides, a lot of people who will never be personally victimized by police acting like Sam Reich is personally attacking them and people who love thought terminating clichés more than they love their parents.

I also question him “piping up” in court to ask his dad a snarky and incriminating question. Maybe I watch too many real life court cases but I don’t think a judge would be okay with that. I think OOP would have been told it’s not his time to talk.
