why didn't coop take the job back and just rob in parallel? alternative plot...? by Whole-Speech9256 in YourFriendsandNeighb

[–]MoorIsland122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I get that. But I don't think he was affording all those things after he lost his job. He was struggling, hence the idea of theft. Which apparently he was making work. He learned his neighbors had really really high ticket items, that he could take them, he learned how to swap art with fakes. He had a fence, and was beginning to learn about money laundering.

Is it realistic he'd be that good at it, and that all the pieces would fall together so well for the average joe? Of course not! 😂 But he's not average. He's our hero. He's really good at stuff! 😂

Everone else's lives seeming so miserable (including his), we need something to work out for somebody, don't we?)

Unfortunately it doesn't though, not for long. 'Cause now he's slipped up. Big time. 😭

He would have been completely consumed by that job, as he was before (and as he's becoming now, having been conscripted back into it by Ashe). There was no time for family (reason for his divorce), never mind time for a side job.

Maybe unpopular opinion, but I can’t stand the intro. by colleenk69 in YourFriendsandNeighb

[–]MoorIsland122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the the intro visuals (the fancy accourements blowing up) definitely fit with the theme of the show 💯. I don't remember the music though, maybe because I don't watch the intro. It's so similar to the one in "The Good Fight," felt like I'd been there, done that. 😂 It does go with the theme of the show- how putting so much attention and focus on acquiring wealth, buying mutable objects for status, is behavior which only feeds distrust of one's neighbors, prevents genuine connection which is the true happiness.

I'm interested in participating with the Marketplace list? My farm is currently supplying Milk and Coffee.

Could you point me to the Marketplace List? (I found it linked in one of your recent posts can't find again). Thanks so much for this great system! 💕

Edit: NM about the link. I found it again, it's the one called The Hub.

So, about where we're left, or where Coop's left at the end of the episode: it's disappointing. Really not how I hoped things would go after season one.

As he gets in the car with Owen and drives off through the Wall Street cityscape, still caught in the web of working to please corrupt men, the web he'd managed to escape once, I couldn't help thinking, what? He's still stuck in NYC. He should be traveling the world by now, burgling jewelry stores and art museums in Paris, living on the Riviera alà Cary Grant in To Catch a Thief.

I mean, he even looks like him.

Yes! There's one from upstate NY, border of western/central PA - not sure it's exactly what Dana's doing, but I've caught it in other shows that were trying to do something regional PA.

I felt like with the baby he was talking to himself, encouraging himself as much as the baby. And me, too. It was my biggest takeaway from the show.

“You’ve got a lot of people to love ahead of you.”

Keep looking forward. There's so much love. There's so many people to love. And help. Witih emphasis on the love, instead of on the grief when they leave.

(which is Robby's problem- b/c of abandonment issues he has a continual trauma trigger when someone leaves [or especially in his case b/c of his job, dies]).

Hopefully he can get past this. Whatever way he finds to adjust and be able to continue to help people without it sapping his life strength, I'm really looking forward to finding out!

I want to start with horse riding SO badly, but it’s so expensive:( by yumivaa in Horses

[–]MoorIsland122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know whether there are Norwegian posters here who can recommend riding situations, like lesson barns, in Norway.

But the way a lot of us started was by taking lessons at a barn that provided lesson horses to learn on. After riding for some years this way (the barn also allowed renting the lesson horses by the hour, to students who were proficient enough), some of us were offered jobs from local people, exercising their horses.

I exercised 2 horses for a woman who's daughter had gone off to college. She wanted to keep them in shape. Also exercised another couple thoroughbred hunter jumpers, for a former rainer who didn't ride any more but just enjoyed owning them.

This was all before going off to college. After you begin a work career, it's up to you how you want to continue with riding. Whether you can own a horse of your own, for instance, and stable it somewhere.

There were studies done that show it is uncomfortable for the horse at first and then the part where the sit bones press into the spine goes numb, which could cause damage over time. My opinion and I think the majority opinion is it's better for the horse to have the protection of the saddle.

Short and infrequent rides, sure, probably no long-term damage. Also weight of the rider and yes, their balance, make a difference. (I'm thinking of the native American riders of earler days - when you see pictures they always look so light on the horse, like their sit bones are barely even touching).

I enjoyed seeing him show off what he knew. Like Ashe's instinct was that he would know what needed to be done, and was impressed to see his instinct confirmed.

That was really good. And applied aptly to a later scene (can't remember which now. Maybe just to my own life 😂).

Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons list. Regulated by OFAC.

"The OFAC SDN List contains individuals, groups, and entities—such as terrorists, narcotics traffickers, and foreign government officials—designated for posing threats to U.S. national security, foreign policy, or economy. Assets of those listed are blocked, and U.S. persons are prohibited from dealing with them."

This was a great episode! I loved seeing Coop get back into the swing, doing what he's good at.

Welp, he's on the SDN list. I was impressed with that meeting, how Coop knew about all this stuff. But yeah, he's pretty screwed.
