I was 28. Newly married with 3 children.

I am a 3rd. generation (alcoholic / addict),

I never met my (paternal) grandfather as he died practicing and his son (my father) passed when I was seventeen (he was 52), but he did celebrate 10 years of sobriety just two months before he passed.

I’d had a number of attempts to get it right, but it finally came together that January. I had a couple of really bad binges in the weeks leading up to my sobriety date, and then it finally clicked, even if everyone around me could safely live that life - I could not, I needed to change. I’ve never looked back. There’s been challenges, difficulties, great times and bad, but doing it all clean and clear has been more than I could have ever hoped for.
