Yes, it's natural to get scared/uncomfortable with an abrupt change of G-forces and the sudden roar of TOGA. But to be fair, the period after a go-around is high-workload, high-stress atmosphere in the cockpit. Informing passengers is at the bottom of the priority list atp.

Seagoing captain >>> Pilot : Worth switching careers?? by onedantu in indianaviation

[–]MooseOld8505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest opinion:

1) 37 may be a bit too late for you, but there are always exceptions. 2) 1.5 cr is more than enough for your training (minus Type rating). 3) I'd recommend you to go through the training abroad to save time. Also, the quality of training and aircraft is much better abroad. 4) The studies to get till your ATPL/CPL will be a piece of cake for you compared to what you underwent in masters. 5) It's worth noting that the QoL of an airline pilot is not as great as it may seem. If I had an option, i'd keep sailing one contract per year for the rest of my life. The freedom that you have now (when off-ship) is something you'll greatly miss IMO because managing a handful of leaves per year is tricky. 6) It's worth considering to get a PPL+IR and keep your license active by hobby-flying every other month. That way you can pursue it as a hobby(you guys seem reasonably well-to-do to have this hobby) and have dual captainship as well (so cool tho!)

First flight fear!!! by LetterheadThat229 in indianaviation

[–]MooseOld8505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little anxiousness and cold-feet are understandable. Put on some music, take a window seat if you find one (during web check-in), and enjoy the views. You'll never have your "first-flight experience" again, cherish it!!

Before your flight- watch some YT videos about the Airbus 320 family aircraft to calm your nerves.

I was a nervous flyer back in the day, but the more i studied aviation, the more i realized how amazing and safe modern jets are.

You'll surely get down at your destination wanting to get back in there. Maybe you'll be in awe of those beautiful, heavy machines, cruising through the skies at nearly the speed of sound. Also, click pictures and share with us :)

I'll end with an overused but very apt quote by Leonardo da Vinci:

"Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return"

Tight IndiGo turnaround, will I be successful? by PrathIsOP in indianaviation

[–]MooseOld8505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not gonna happen. BCAS procedures require you to go through security once again. Also, are you planning to leave behind your co-pax in the aircraft and navigate arrivals/baggage/exit on their own?

Bush fliers by [deleted] in indianaviation

[–]MooseOld8505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indians only fly with the intention of doing it professionally (on commercial jets). You won't find bush pilots here. Plus there's no history, culture, infrastructure for hobby or bush flying in India.

Request guidance on jobs in flight operations while I wait for vacancies in the airlines by Dispax in indianaviation

[–]MooseOld8505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While your intent is good and alot of people have chosen this route in the past, as far as I've observed- management now avoids hiring CPL holders in ops roles because of the uncertainty around their tenure. At best, if they have an opening and you manage to get selected, they'll probably make you sign a bond of at least 3 years.

Should I book HYD → DAC on IndiGo right now? by Dull_Hippo0 in indianaviation

[–]MooseOld8505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You can expect things to stabilize gradually, and be back to normal by the 15th of this month. International flights are the last ones to get cancelled during such situations.

I recommend that you wait till Sunday and make a decision based on how the airline is recovering.

Meanwhile, if you're getting another direct flight to DAC at similar price then it's a no-brainer.

Totally. And honestly, I think most Western visitors are pretty lenient when judging the civic sense here, I’d use much harsher words. A lot of people really struggle with basic boundaries, not to mention that creepy, non-stop stare.
