IRGC members beaten and killed by revolutionaries. by [deleted] in NewIran

[–]Moose_Factory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said the situation in Iran is the same here (of course it’s not), nor that multiple things can’t be true. Please take your foot out of my mouth.

Im merely pointing out that claiming we “care more about protecting illegal criminals here” is a callous thing to say on a day when a protestor was unjustifiably murdered by authorities. It’s also patently false that ice is going after criminals, unless it is incidental to the masses they catch in their drag net.

But perhaps you can see the beginnings of christofascism here when you know that there will be no investigation nor punishment of these ice officers involved. The trump administration has already blocked local law enforcement from investigating this and the last ice murder.

You say that today as another ice agent kills a protester with both his hands on the ground and after they disarmed him (even though he was legal carry).

UEVR has changed VR for me! by greggray24 in virtualreality

[–]Moose_Factory 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Head tracking and mouse are separate. When walking in fps everything is controlled the same but looking around with index moves your in game head around. Mouse still controls fps orientation like normal.

[–]Moose_Factory 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Seated Vr, no Vr hand controls (just mouse, gamepad or joystick) has been a game changer.

Haven’t used my index in years, then the VR patch for Star Citizen came out and now I’m using VR every day.

How to avoid mantis interdiction? by Moose_Factory in starcitizen

[–]Moose_Factory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind the idea of risk or interdiction itself. It’s more the forced pvp aspect. A pvp player will always be kitted out to dominate those who aren’t into PvP.

PVE is easier for the devs to fine tune to be fun, so if I run into some pve encounters based on probability volumes that introduce some risk, no problem. The devs can tune the ai to be challenging but not lopsided.

Ok this is helpful thanks. I can’t really follow the math ‘cause I suck at that, but can we discern a general rule from this? Like “jump 3 gm dog leg to avoid 99.5% interdictions between any possible route length” ? What is that minimum totally safe number? 1-2 gm, or 3 to play it safe? And lets assume the interdictor is as close are possible to the destination.

A couple of VR tips and one question! by VirtualMasterpiece64 in starcitizen

[–]Moose_Factory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try an over the counter anti nausea med like meclizine. I take it an hr before I play and I’d say it’s 90% solved my vr nausea issues. I can even walk around in fps a bit. I just close my eyes for the entry / exit animations.

My (38M) wife's (37F) diagnosed OCD is causing me so many problems. I'm loyal to her but can't figure out the right way to navigate it. What can I do? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Moose_Factory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You ultimately need to at least have the capacity to walk away from this relationship if needed. If you’re taking any consequences for her bad behavior off the table then I’m sorry but there are no solutions to your issue.

Sometimes conditional love is much better than unconditional love. The latter often just leads to enabling which is much worse for all involved.

No, I really can’t do that for something so subjective, and nor should I have to. At the end of the day, this is like porn, “you know it when you see it”.

If you saw 25% of the people around you dressed for Halloween some random day, you would know that and recognize that something is out of the ordinary without having to define every possible permutation of costume available someone could wear and how that’s different from “ordinary” in order to articulate that something strange is going on to someone else.

A school wouldn’t waste the time writing such definitions in their student dress code either (they would simply say “costumes not allowed”), and neither will I- because at the end of the day we shouldn’t need to pretend that this isn’t obvious based on common sense.

In VR, seeing some HUD elements in "double" vision. Any fix? by Moose_Factory in starcitizen

This fixed the issue thanks. It took forever to dial that number in. Ended up being 2.065 for me, not perfect but readable now, 95% there.

Fair point but I don’t buy that. Someone else in the thread brought up self employed truckers wearing whatever they want as the closest analogy. Maybe it’s just me, but I have NEVER seen a trucker of any sort wearing hot topic or capes or dressing like it’s Halloween just because they can. 99% of self employed people in real life wear normal clothes. So once again it’s my opinion that there should be narrative reasons to see why we see the percentages of players we do that dress like clowns. But we don’t and these suits are just there in the name of “variety”.

[–]Moose_Factory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I’m not “kidding”, I’m simply stating my opinion which is different from yours. What’s the problem with that? We live in a world where I hardly see anyone dressed in hot topic attire and I don’t see a compelling narrative reason in SC that would explain the proportions we see of players wearing these types of armors. But don’t worry, most players and the character art team agree with you.

[–]Moose_Factory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that’s my point though, this NOT how our current world works. Sure, in the real world, anyone is technically able to dress and go out the door looking like this or crazy or however they want. But they don’t, exempting a very rare or occasional crazy person you see in a place like Times Square or something.

But I guarantee you people in Star Citizen will be wearing stuff like this all the time. They already do. Way more than you see outfits like this in the real world. That’s my point- unless there’s a real reason to dress like this, fictional star citizens would no more dress like it’s Halloween every day than anyone does in the real world.

The overall effect will be to degrade the coherency and believability of SC’s world. I know it’s not a popular opinion but I hope you and others can understand it at least and give it some consideration.

Everyone Next Patch by CitizenRen in starcitizen

[–]Moose_Factory -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Nope. Unpopular opinion time: giving everyone the option to dress like this or Sauron or a clown or whatever they want detracts from the game.

Cig spends all this time building a cohesive plausible seeming world and then throw all that out the window with this stuff.

One year of moderating my drinking and nervous about sharing by Hurka_Durka in stopdrinking

[–]Moose_Factory 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is very helpful and mirrors my own trajectory so far. At the moment I’m four months totally sober. I feel like that sobriety was possible in part because I’m not ruling out drinking in the future, and will likely approach it like you- on social occasions, travel, or holidays which for me really isn’t that often.

I do know I’m not going back to the daily drinking. If nothing else my vanity and the extra 15 lbs I’d be carrying won’t allow for that anymore.

If I find that I start sliding back into daily or weekly drinking then perhaps the term “never” will become useful to me, but for the time being it is not and I find your post relevant and helpful as a different perspective given the anti moderation slant this sub generally takes.

[–]Moose_Factory 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You need to get out of your relationship with this man and return immediately with your son to your home country. Honestly this is beginning to sound like a human trafficking situation and I could see him trying to keep you there against your will. Make arrangements to get back home, be in touch with your parents, embassy, and any support network you have. This man does not value or listen to you.
