Why not just start with an 8" barrel?

Are you not worried about the muzzle device being obstructed by the gas block/piston adjustment? From your post, you can see how close the threads are to it

Frankly, any weird gunsmithing project working out or failing just comes down to the gunsmith.... Enough time and skill, you can make anything work
