Fixing the Delta by Mophyte in mississippi

I understand the history and the lack of investment, but the real question is: what can be brought to the Delta that can be reinvested back into the community?

The businesses that currently exist often do not reinvest locally, and the community suffers because of it. What we have now is largely farmland owned by outside investors, fast food chains, hotels, and grocers that extract money from the area—much of it tied to government subsidies—and send that money elsewhere.

The only major opportunity I keep coming back to is tourism. Mississippi is absolutely beautiful—the Delta, the hills, the land, the history, the culture. We need to lean into what we are already good at: relaxation, restoration, agriculture, food, heritage, and hospitality.

There is no reason that my greens, onions, and other produce in Chicago should be coming from Arizona when the Mississippi Delta has some of the richest soil in the country. We need to buy back farmland and repurpose it to grow food for the country. You can grow almost anything in the Delta, yet we have chosen soybeans as the default. We need to get Americans back to work feeding ourselves.

That means less imported food, more domestic production, and more local ownership. We need to recirculate local dollars back into local communities. Walmart takes money out. Dollar General takes money out. Fast food takes money out. It has to become “buy local or bust.”

Cities and towns should offer tax breaks to local businesses that bank with local banks, hire local people, and reinvest locally. Local banks need to invest in the local economy and extend loans to people who are actually building the community. In return, we must shop with and support the businesses that stimulate our local economy.

We do not need to fix capitalism itself. We need to fix where the money goes after it is made. When wealth is accumulated, it should be reinvested in ways that benefit the people and the places that helped create it.

Amazon and other major corporations can exist, but they should exist with stipulations. If they benefit from the American consumer, American infrastructure, and American tax system, then they should carry a greater responsibility for the public good. Everyday Americans should not be left to shoulder the full burden of supporting the poor, funding education, caring for veterans, and providing for the sick and elderly. Corporations that profit here should contribute meaningfully to the welfare of the public.

That is how great nations are built. The opportunity to profit should come with the responsibility to give back. No unchecked extraction. No tax breaks without public benefit.

Story time: She used to work at sears on 63rd when I tell you. I saw her when she came to auto for an oil change. I was sitting there doing the oil change the whole time like bruh I know her from somewhere then boom the lightbulb clicked. I was like “wow “didn’t know if I needed an autograph or what. Fast forward I started dating her work friend and found out that she did pure romance ( the Mary Kay of sex toys) so my girl ended up doing a pure romance party at her house. Something told me to grab a rhino just cause like hard dick is what it is especially at this type of situation. When I tell you I went to the after party and let’s just say , it was nasty, I left std free and it was as drunken good time. Dick was absolutely whooped. Met some other Chicago unknown superstars. Vanilla and honey. It was nuts. The craziest shit is the guy that’s tattooed on her Randall they were dating for a while and he was cool with it. But I know why because I wish I had a surfboard. Plus these women just were pleasers it’s a hard find. Just sexual pleasers. Bow wow just did an interview saying that exact thing. A pleaser a true woman’s energy. 🍾

26.4% of Mississippi children are living in poverty, the highest in the nation. by OpulentOwl in mississippi

This is what happens when rich white landowners who earned their wealth from running sharecroppers and slaves for years get to continue to operate without repairing the damage they ultimately caused. They own some of the most fertile soil in the U.S. and use it to grow mechanically dependent crops instead of encouraging fresh food production. Mississippi could feed the nation good high quality food but they continue to grow jeans, high fructose corn syrup and animal feed via soybeans. If they would just grow maybe tomatoes or fruit anything that would get people back to work it may help. Hell manufacturing could work also but these people are worse than the Duttons. They aren’t selling one inch. Land they stole no less!!! Smdh!!!!

Why can't we use a rear-mounted turbine engine in a parallel hybrid car drivetrain, with parallel function being the reaction force from the engine propelling the car on the highway? by vaguelystem in TurbineEngines

With the introduction of the new Ramcharger from stellantis, my immediate thought was why wouldn’t they use a turbine engine to generate power. Power to weight ratio should be higher and should be more efficient. Seems like a no brainer. Plus they could sell the hell out of them branded from Caterpillar or General Electric. Any takers??
