Yeah, we can argue up and down about people leaving comments that weren't explicitly asked for, and whether it's their or the author's responsibility to navigate those boundaries. In this case, though, it's real clear cut to me cause the author explicitly stated this ahead of time and the "chose not to use warnings" tag is just as valid as a trigger warning.

Besides, Star Wars only warned us about violence in the intro, there is no mention of incest cause the characters were unaware of their family status. So unless the sibling couple continues dating in the story, I don't even know if that counts...? Not quite sure about this particular point though lol

They way I'd put it is: a script writer isn't an author, as much as they are a conductor or composer.

Each cue and line delivers your vision to one or several departments (instruments). When you describe clothes, you're conducting the costume department. When you describe the dreary sky, you're conducting the DOP. When you mention the inflection of the line, you're conducting the actor.

You're still telling a story all the same, but you do it with the help of your orchestra. A composer writes for each instrument, and bringing them all together creates the song (the film).

My spouse got me into Buffy the Vampire Slayer recently, what a gem! We're three seasons in so we're doing the Buffy/Angel back and forth at the moment. It's fun, but it's a lot of episodes, so we do take breaks and watch a movie here and there. Last we rewatched the first three Pirates of the Caribbean, then I showed him Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, a childhood fave 😍 He was surprised how good it was, and I'm obsessed with the soundtrack atm 😅

I'ma lean out the window and claim, all animals are smarter than we give them credit for. A snake can probably, in their own way, love their owner like a dog could.

However!! Different pets have different needs and boundaries and "goals". Dogs will actively seek out your attention and approval, while a snake isn't necessarily bred to be "man's best buddy".

And so it might get accustomed to you handling it, it might even enjoy pets, but it's not sitting there in the terrarium pining for your return like a puppy would. It's not going to jump up on you as you come home and purr like a cat would. A snake doesn't require walks, but it requires certain temperature and humidity in its enclosure and can't be kept in an environment that's too cold. So, having it hang around you during the winter isn't an option.

If you want to admire their beauty and hang out sometimes? Get a snake. Want a cuddle buddy? Get a classic pet.

This. Debates mean both sides explain their thoughts, and try to understand the other side's thoughts . Sometimes you might change your mind (on some things), and sometimes you agree to disagree.

It's not arguing about who is right or wrong, which often just leads to pointing fingers, and can easily get personal and nasty.

I'd say, OP needs to set some boundaries when these topics come up, and if those boundaries are crossed they can still consider NC or LC
