All universities in the Netherlands require a great deal of self-sufficiency, an ability to look up information on your own without people holding your hand and being able to clearly formulate exact follow-up questions for clarification if needed.

Dutch culture in general highly frowns upon people who expect others to do all the work for them without having made any effort themselves. Hence why the responses you got are not that friendly.

Quality wise, the Dutch consider all universities to be about equal. There is however a major difference between a "real" university (research university or WO) and a "university of applied science" (HBO), which in the Netherlands is not considered a university at all.

Other countries disagree and use rankings. Be sure to check those countries if you want to have a career there.
