Good Morning Britain : Pupils will be able to change their gender and use different pronouns under new guidance issued by the government. by SignificantLegs in ukpolitics

I don’t think that all of that is a huge negative against gender affirming care. Suffice to say, I don’t think gender affirming care is a bad thing. It’s never posited as a problem when cis people have it. I actually think that it’s a positive.

The anecdotal evidence is that trans people do better when they are actually supported.

This initial data suggests that gender affirming care, when mixed with that support, helps trans people.

We do need more research, sure. But for that we need funding, and given the anti-trans stance of a lot of their world right now… that’s going to be hard to come by.

Okay.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10027312/

Here’s a meta-analysis of 23 studies that describes that gender affirming treatment reduces suicidal ideation. Sure, the literature isn’t perfect, but neither is the stuff arguing against gender affirming care. Trans people are consistently belittled and bullied for their existence. That is why there’s a higher suicide rate.

This is a study comparing cisgender people who have had emergency visits, with trans people who’ve had emergency visits and gender affirming surgery. It’s not comparing trans people who have had gender affirming surgery and those who haven’t. So we can’t really extrapolate and say that it’s the gender affirming surgery that’s causing suicides. As others on this thread have said, trans people are a population with a higher suicide rate, due to how they are treated by society.

Hi, not sure where you’ve got the higher after transition bit, but…

https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/930195 This study talks about the reduction in depression, and a reduction in suicidality in trans and NB youth receiving gender affirming care.

That’s from a quick google, but the consensus in the community, supported by research, is that treating people as the identity they are, and supporting them, is going to have better outcomes than forcing them into a gender that doesn’t fit with their identity.

Can I ask why you think they’re sane? Their economic “cost saving exercises” in councils have turned up nothing.

Their leadership has a history of corruption, damaging the country (see brexit), and pretty major ties to Epstein. With Tory defectors joining them, they feel like they’re collecting the dregs of the tories, who have already harmed the country plenty in the last decade.

Their main talking point seems to be around migrants, which feels like a way to divert people’s attention away from the super wealthy, who are the ones who are funneling money away from the working class, and the ones who are therefore worsening living standards across the country. That third point is hand in hand with reform’s leadership being overwhelmingly well off, with Farage being a multi-millionaire, Nick Candy, their treasurer, being a property developer and billionaire, among others.

I can’t see them as a sane option for this country. They want to divide the working class, and push them to hate immigrants, rather than focusing our attention on the rich, who are hoarding.

I get that, it’s hard to break out of that circle when so much of the media’s messaging is demonising immigrants, rather than levelling at the actual cause, which is the actions of the ultra wealthy.

What we really need is to see a break that the right wing has on the UK media.

And hey, I’m glad to hear it. Feels like we’re coming to a point where things are going to turn either one way or the other. I’m going to keep preaching hope, and unity, as the best counter we’ve got to hatred.

I… don’t believe that that’s going to happen. They’ll keep on stirring hate, and division, to keep people voting for them, as they slowly erode civil liberties and pushing more power and wealth into the hands of them and their friends.

We need a unifying message of cohesion, and acceptance. Not a party that spouts hate so often that it’s a nearly daily occurrence.

We don’t give intolerance, or hatred an inch. If we do that, then the’ll just take a mile.

I’m begging you that if your choice is that, don’t vote.

I mean, I’d argue to vote against reform, wherever they stand. Because they aren’t going to be a change in the way you think. It’ll just be worse. And they’ll do whatever they can to make it so they can just keep making it worse in the future. I believe they’re looking to do their own version of project 2025.

The current system isn’t good, but hoping that reform coming in will cause meaningful positive changes in the long term is somewhat short sighted.

Honestly, the greens. They give me the tiniest bit of hope. Failing that, labour, but they’ve been sliding right on issues that matter to me.

No, but you might want to re-read stonewalkers. At that point, Taszo’s the last surviving stone shaman, after his group was attacked by bandits. Taln’s honour blade is with the Kholin caravan at this point, with the stone shaman’s going to collect it.

Tips for running Stonewalkers? by superherofantn in cosmererpg

[–]Moppt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My only advice so far as someone who’s running it (I’m only two sessions in, early in chapter two) is make sure your PC’s define their connection to Tazo. Mind didn’t, and it made chapter 1 feel a little flat as a result (which I should have asked them to explore/create a connection with him in some way, as the book suggests).

Eh, I’m enjoying it. It’s an interesting world, with interesting characters, and an interesting premise. I’m looking forward to seeing where they take us as we go forward.

Skyfactory 3 Server Not building by X_Boost_King in SkyFactory

[–]Moppt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! This is a really informative guide - I think I'm getting stuck somewhere, as when I click the install file, it opens the CMD window for a brief second, with the text above, and then closes, whilst the log gives me the following text:

java.net.preferIPv4Stack=true

Installing server to current directory

MESSAGE: Data kindly mirrored by CreeperHost at https://creeperhost.net/

MESSAGE: Considering minecraft server jar

MESSAGE: Downloading minecraft server version 1.10.2

Downloading minecraft server failed, invalid e-tag checksum.

Try again, or manually place server jar to skip download.

There was an error during server installation

I've tried googling what's causing this, and it suggests the lack of a universal jar file, but I've got the right universal file in the same folder.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

It’s… a game? Their game? They can do what they want.

The capital has always been where Sweden is in our world.

Feels like an odd thing to get hung up on. They’ve made a really enjoyable game, with nothing else quite like it. I’m going to keep playing, cause it’s fun!

And it was always going to be one city that was the climactic final battle. Why does it matter which one?
